What happened to this show?
It was so good, I remember this one show long time back, long before 9/11, when WTO and IMF was a big issue of protest.
Somewhere in Europe this meeting of WTO/IMF was taking place. It was raining in winter, but that didnt stopped 1000 of Europeans from protesting. They were all drenched and shivering in cold and were protesting outside the meeting place by silently standing there in rain.
And at the end of the show, it showed a clip where this all drenched college girl was just standing in front of Police and she was crying.
It touched me so much, touched me more for the fact that they were not protesting for themselves, they were protesting for poor lives of people in Africa and East Asia. |

Panorama is still on, but there's currently a break between series. The final show of the latest series was December 4th, so it should be back March or April time. It's usually a half decent watch, but 10.15 on Sunday evenings is hardly ideal.
Mind you, if you like Panorama, try the BBC's Horizon, which is similar, but tends to investigate scientific issues, or Channel 4's Dispatches, which is a mix between Panorama and Horizon. Mind you, I think both of those shows are off air at the moment. Oh well. |

No, they were protesting for something like IMF gives less money for development these people in Africa and Asia. Also to remove the subsidy on agricultural produce by rich European countries and US. |

Well last year too somewhere in Asia their was some meeting and people protested for same reasons. I dont remember the event, but it was publicised and reported in all news channels. Was some pretty big event.
Edit: Its not pro-globalization, European and US Govt give subsidies to its farmer which makes it cheaper for them to export their excess produce, killing the income of local farmers in Asia and Africa. They cant compete with EU and US when they dump their excess in these regions at rediculously low price. |
