I attend the local drag strip here in San Diego very often. They called for volunteers to help clean up after the event. So I helped out. (although it was advertised as a half hour) 2 hours later, i was presented a ticket for a free race at the next event.
Myself, I'm afraid of high speeds in a car, so I'm handing it off to my friend. While the car is legally his, we spend weekends working, tweaking and tuning things here and there.
With two weeks before the next event, what are some things we can do to get a good time? Our current agenda is to strip the weight on the rear end of the car like the seats.
so?

What car, what budget?

i was hoping to keep it anonymous as to avoid the eventual Import v Domestic onslaught.
eh, 1993 Honda Civic EX. Basic mods. intake/exhaust. bars/braces and lowering springs. I talked to him last night and said he'd been passed yokohama tires from his uncle.
Budget wise. It's up to him. I'll probably give him a measly $50 out of friendship.
hmmm, 91 octane fuel
he already feeds it Mobil 1 oil. Would Amsoil be overkill?

not too good with my knowledge of Japanese cars, if your not wanting to have it road worthy strip everythign you can from it for weight.also get rid of the water from the water jets of the car,as I know that most cars can get about 3-5 litres in,which can be 5kg you don't need.

Every little helps.

cold air induction, quite a simple mod if he has not already done it.

for the strip remove the headlight from the side the IK is on, extend the pipework so that the filter itself sits in the gap where the headlight was, nice cold air feed then
