Vanguard & z3ta+

I already have vanguard and appreciate it.
However I tried Z3ta+ recently.
If I purchase z3ta+ (which I also like) will Vanguard become obsolete?
Do some of you who own both still use both synths and still use both?
Rikki
I use Vanguard but recently downloaded the demo of z3ta and find it odd. The demo version didnt come with any docs on how it all works and it doesnt appear very intuitive at all so Im loathe to fork out on a program that I might now be able to use much.

It also seems to use a lot more CPU power too. Is there a guide somewhere on how to play with it so I can try before I buy???

Cheers

This is where most people argue about the sound that Vanguard gives out. I personally like it and Vanguard can make a decent amount of fx, pads, and leads. I like the gated pads I can great with it, but with Camelspace VST you don't really need the trancegate with vanguard anymore. Z3ta+ does take up a lot more cpu resources which is one reason why I can't use it too often. If you want overall power and versatility then go with z3ta and get fx freeze. I love z3ta, but I can only ever use like 2 instances of it with all my other VST's before everything starts to lag up (2 z3ta's, 2-4 albinos, 1 vanguard, 1-3 v-stations). In conclusion, I say buy z3ta, learn to use it, and learn to love it because you will.

Well to me it seems like you might not know much about synthesis and you can't really just "jump" right into using z3ta. So first things first let's learn about some synthesis. Check out this link After learning that, start messing around with the interface. From there, just learn from experience. I think learning about synthesis will really help you though.

I know dick about synthesis but I can figure out most things by myself.

With Vangaurd you load up one of the present and start playing with the 3 OSCs, then bugger around with the filter and reso to get different sounds and such like. Z3ta looks like a fractal rendering package!

nah, z3ta+ is easy to program.. it's almost only subtractive synthesis.

IMO z3ta has a very unintuitive interface. I'm not saying it is too complex (it is complex, dont get me wrong, but there are more complex synths), but I found Vanguard for example much easier to program. Then again, you can create very complex and rich sounds with z3ta. Vanguard still sounds kinda basic, and you will notice that especially when comparing the presets of these two synths.

i think i use z3ta in all my tracks how. Its worth the experimentation. go for it =)
