like to get some feedback off ppl here.
what are the steps in which you go bout putting a track together.
would you start off with the drums? or a bassline? or which way do you prefer going bout making your tracks.do most ppl have musical back grounds?
at which stage of the track would you start adding effects and compression and reverb etc.
sometimes when im in my bedroom starting off my tracks,i often wonder what way other ppl might go bout putting there tracks together.i always like to read the ways other ppl ideas come together |

| I usually start with kick and bass combo, then I add percussion, synths, and even more percussion until I got a good main part. Then I try to build the rest around it. |

| definitely percussions first, not necessarily a full-on set, but if you can put that together rather quickly then why not. if i'm doing a vocal track, i like to do bass first before the main riff just to get a more of a basic idea of what the track wants to sound like. if it's an instrumental tune, i'll do the riff first and generally have the bass play to the main riff. i usually don't add fx until after the whole track is put together. |

| Just doodle around with anything I can get/make until I get something I like. There's no formula to it. |

kick, percussions and bass..
its when i am able to make a good bass sound (including the notes) that it ends up in a finished production |

| Percussion and bass definately. I find that if I go too far melody/fx wise before getting a solid groove happening, the track can feel cluttered when I add those elements in. Also tracks tend to drop down to these bare elements atleast a few times during the duration, so its a pretty good indication of where the track is going. |

that does happen to me,i do get a nice groove going with drums and bass and little fills.then all of a sudden the mix starts to cluttered.i think i could be adding to much reverb to elements of the track...at which point do ppl start arranging there tracks?..from what ive read thru mags and the internet forums everybody hates the arranging part.
did anybody ever read or hear the way the big producers go bout doing there tracks? |

There are two options for me:
No 1:
I already have an idea how the hook line should sound like. Then I drop a(ny) kickdrum and a simple Hihat just to get a simple rhythm. After this - which takes not longer than 15 seconds - I'm going to program the melody or try it on the keyboard.
No 2:
I don't have any idea about the hook line. Then I start off with some percussion, to get a driving rhythm without any melody. After that - which may take several days - I try playing some melodic parts until I get some harmonies which I think sound interesting.
(don't beet me four mi english :D ) |

| For me it always starts with a catchy tune that formulates in my head. I get that melody going than fiddle around and build from there. |
