Hey guys, i have 500 bucks to spend and i want to upgrade my setup. i currently have 2 turntables, a mixer, cartridges, headphones, and lots of trance/house vinyl.

I was thinking about serato scratch, but it doesnt seem like its worth 500 bucks to me... i was reading the specs and stuff and it seems like all you can do is play mp3 files from turntables, set cue points, and a few other features. I was hoping to get something that would let me remix tracks and add my own sound effects/loops. dont get me wrong, i like the idea of playing audio files on my tt's, but i am also looking for a little more... any suggestions?

what would you do if you had my setup and 500 dollars to spend?

thanks,
bisco

ps - i'm not limited to 500 bucks, i could always save a little longer if need be..

What type of mixer and TTs do you have?
You may be better off spening your cash upgrading one of the two, but if not id go for a cd player.
$5-600 gets you a denon dn-s3500 on ebay.

yeah, what kind of decks?

i'd get a pair of cdj-200s.
discobiscuit
i have numark tt500's, a numark dxm06 mixer, shure m44g cartridges, and sony700 headphones.

i really dont want cdj200's or an upgrade... but i might ~ who knows..

i was looking for something that let me add my own flavor to my mixes, but i dont know what to get...

i will look into the cdj's though

thanks

I would highly recommend a CDJ. That or Ableton.
discobiscuit
yeah ableton looked cool... i'll have to read up on it a little more.. i did see it on ebay and it came with a keyboard or something like that..

thanks,

If you want to add some flavour to your mixes then a pair of CDJ's, or at least one CDJ is definately a good option.

If you want to add something of your own to your mixes than get Ableton and a midi controller and use Ableton as a huge Sampler/FX station. That is what James Zabiela was doing the last time I saw him. He was mixing off the CDJs and the 1200s and using Ableton and his laptop for FX and loops.
discobiscuit
that does sound good... what all can you do with ableton? i will go read the specs... i only glanced over them..
