Letterman, Olbermann challenge 'Factor' host
NEW YORK (AP) -- If Bill O'Reilly truly loves a good fight, then he's had quite a week.
The Fox News Channel personality's confrontation with David Letterman Tuesday night made for some gripping television. The cranky "Late Show" host told his guest: "I have the feeling about 60 percent of what you say is crap."
That same night, nemesis Keith Olbermann on MSNBC once again named O'Reilly his "Worst Person in the World," this time for battling with two people at The New York Times. That's the 15th time O'Reilly has been cited since Olbermann began his half-facetious, half-serious nightly "award" to wag his finger at bad behavior.
For whatever reason, it seems more people are willing to step into the ring with the host of cable TV news' No. 1 program.
But they'd better beware. Combat may be as essential as oxygen to him.
O'Reilly has already logged many minutes on his TV and radio shows to talk about what he called his "shootout" with Letterman, and posted a video clip on his Web site. He gave a telephone interview to "The View" to say that he didn't feel ambushed.

I have to admit, I despised O'Reilly at first. But after watching him for a while and seeing him go on shows like Letterman and Daily Show I do sort of respect him. The guy may be a douche but he isn't just spitting out nonsense like some people. He knows how to make a point and the guy can ing debate. He can laugh too and makes fun of himself which helps to get you to lower your guard. Some of the things he says may be outragious but the man knows exactly what hes doing. |

I think that his reason for going on those shows, is that he has a book to promote.

I haven't watched much O'Reilly, but the clips and bits I've seen suggests that his reasoning abilities are very much based on distorting facts and interrupting his guests. Maybe I've gotten a bad sample?:conf: |

Nope, he's a halfwit, and that's being generous. In a real debate (i.e. not the carnival act you see on his show) he would be helpless against your average high school debate team member. Every time he opens his mouth it's like a logician's blooper reel. |

Arbiter's absolutely correct. I've never seen O' Reilly make any sense whatsoever and he's incredibly rude and uncivil. He's also a douchebag (which you probably already know). |

| Okay well granted what hes doing might not be debating so much as inviting you to argue with him to make a spectacle of himself and get more headlines. Nevertheless, I still find him entertaining, if even comically, and I have respect for someone who is able to hold their own while pissing off so many people then asking for more. It reminds me of myself. :D |

All of the ultra right-wing neocons have perfected this skill of so-called "debate". However, it is not a debate - it is a filibuster. By not letting your oponent speak you take away their ability to counterpoint your nonesense.
It amazes me to listen to some of these wing nuts still line up and smooch Bush's butt. You can plaster facts and evidence on their eyeballs and they will still scream "erroneus! erroneus!"
O'Riley, Limbaugh, Beck - I detest them all. Concervatives scare me, period. Ultra concervatives give me night terrors.
The day Alito gets sworn into Supreme Court is the day I start looking at countries to immigrate to before it's too late. Forget Ashcroft - he was a poofter in comparisson.:nervous: |

| Interesting clip there (I went out and found the whole unedited piece). Haven't seen Letterman go political like that before. However he did put himself up for som spanking by O'Reilly when saying he didn't watch his show, as an argument for his opinion that O'Reilly isn't objective (who the hell is anyways)and the whole fair and balance crap that Fox spews out at any chance they get. |
