I mean, I've really tried to give it a chance. Some of the tracks are okay, but generally I don't like the style. It's much too housey for me, and I'm not that fond of the electro spin. One of the hallmarks of Sasha has always been his knack for brilliant progression, but for the last year or two his sets have sounded almost aimless to me.
It took a while for Sasha to finally drop in my rankings, but damn if he seems to be trying. |

Sorry I should have been more specific in my original question. I know Sasha uses Ableton now- I have been in the booth with him and watched him play with the thing.
What I would like to know is what kind of tracks sasha has been playing these past couple of months. It has been a few months since he was in NYC.

I like Armin sometimes, but there wasn't much of a decision to be made here. |

When I saw Sasha at his last fundacion gig in LA, he spent most of the night crouched behind the DJ booth, with his laptop screen pointed down towards the floor, while only his hand and occasionally his head popped up while working his controller.
It was interesting to see a DJ practically completely remove themself from view, seeing how much it is getting to be more about the DJ than the music these days.
I like the fact the DJ isnt a spectacle to watch.
It was nice to just dance and take in the sounds without having a DJ to watch...and having no clue what the hell they were doing.
The DJ is always secondary to the music... |
