i-mac computer problem

hi guys
i know this is nothing to do with music but im in a bit of a pickle and i know you guys have mac computers and are whizzes with them so you mite be able to help....
ive got an oldish imac g3 computer one of the original ones, its been a good computer and works fine, but the other day i updated the mac os operating system, unfounately the usb zip drive did'nt work when i plugged it in, the computer crashed so i had to force quit, now the mouse and keyboard don't work at all through usb and the computer won't let me start up past the first aid screen because i can't click ok to continue, i can't even start up without extentions of or of the mac os disk because the keyboard does'nt work...
how can i get the computer to start so i can reinstall the system/extentions etc
please help .......

Try a mac forum or something. |

Try booting the OS CD... put the CD in the drive and when the machine turns on hold down the C key. Look for the OS restore utility in there.

you probably somehow messed up your usb drivers so you'll need to download new ones. |

Ok that doesn't make any sense...
Do the OS repair off the install disk, and it will restore the original drivers.

its ok guys ive fixed it, there was something wrong with the keyboard, ive got a new one and reinstalled the system software and usb drivers, everything is fine now...;) |

You said it worked untill you updated the OS. Was that with the same keyboard?? Or was that just a while ago? |

no i plugged the mouse in without the keboard an it worked, so the keyboard was faulty got a new one, then the mouse and keyboard worked, once i got the mac up and running i just reinstalled the usb drivers to be sure and its fine now.;) |
