Hi guys,

Everyone knows that a huge issue with the Sony MDR v700s is the crack that develops over time on the joints. After having mine for a good few years they finally both cracked on a recent trip.

I didn't feel like shelling out for new ones.

I also didn't feel like putting ANY time or effort into the fix

Here is the result:

And they look great!

It might surprise you to learn that I just used coat hangers and duct tape. I know, seamless job huh?

I was under the impression that they'd recently fixed the problem, and any you'd purchased recently wouldn't encouter cracking.

LOL

That's up there with using locking pliers to change the channel on the telly!!!

When you put them in the pouch dont fold them by pushing each driver toward the headband, instread somewhat turn both drivers, put on ontop of the other, then push it toward the headband. One of my friends pointed this out, and is probably the reason why they crack so much, mine still going 2 years strong :D

A better way to lengthen their life is to get those plastic strips that make that Zip! sound when you close them and put them around the joints. Works real well and if you get the clear small ones you can barely notice them.

Hopefully someone will post what they are called as I always forget... zip ties or something like that.

Cheers
