| why can't i install it? and what does it do? i need it so i can transfer files onto my xbox, but its not letting me, windows update says everything is fine O_o |

why would you need the .net framework to transfer stuff to your xbox?
Unless you mean xbox360 and its some media agent or something. Even so, you should be able to install it right from microsoft's site, or part of the optional updates in windowsupdate. |

| most likely because of permissions. do not go through windows update, download the redistributable .net framework (the latest version - 2.0); get it here, and try to install it. it should place a log file in your %systemroot% (i.e. c:\windows). see what's the problem there. |
