Bush and Blair

I was just wondering... Bush and Blair always seem to smile together and support each other. But in reality, no two people could be further apart in their mentalities and views.
For example, recently in the UK, a law was passed authorizing civil partnerships between gays. Blair had a special conference where he said, "I am proud to be here. I am proud that we have civil partnerships, where we have reached and will continue to develop freedom and equality in our society" etc. Can you envision Bush saying that or even supporting that?
This is just one example. So are people, both inside and outside the American and British cabinets, aware of this, and are they concerned about significant differences that may erupt on the issues of religion and culture between these two leaders? |

I think two people can agree on one subject, disagree on another, and still get along. Moreover, I don't think gay marriage is as big of a central issue when it comes to Bush and Blair agreeing or disagreeing.
Besides, wasn't Bush using the anti-gay marriage ammendment as a stunt to pull in the conservative vote in 2004? I don't think he's really pursued it any further since it died in the senate. What a flip-flopper.
And LOL @ toshirozawa's post. :) |
