I think Norton makes a product which recovers deleted data. I can't recall the name though.
Edit: Never mind Norton doesn't make such software, but here's a helpful link: PC World: Data Recovery |

if you're running Windows XP ,
there is a folder called "c:\Recycled" , which sometimes saves data that you delete or emptied from your recycle bin. |

1) DON'T USE YOUR THE HARD DRIVE ANY MORE THAN YOU NEED TO!!
2) Get a copy of Active@ Undelete and burn it onto a CD.
3) Remove the hard drive that you want to recover the data from.
4) Take the drive and the CD to a friend's house. Put the drive in his computer (or you could just use another computer you have laying around the house) and install the Active@ Undelete program. Have it do a full scan of your drive and it will tell you everything that can be recovered. If this program doesn't find it, it means you've accidentally overwritten it with other data and is impossible to recover. If it does find it, recover the data to your friend's main hard drive, NOT your hard drive, as it could overwrite the "missing" data during the process.
Good luck. |

i have heard of this program . is it reliable that it is going to recover 100% of it ? i know that some of the blocks could be overwritten, after the deletion , but i forgot what program i was using, but it promised about 70% recovery of deleted files ? of course nothing can be 100% recoverable. i would be happy with 60% recovered if i lost my stuff. |

as long as you haven't written much to the drive since the deletion, it should be able to recover at least 90% of everything. |
