new Pioneer CDJ next week! (pg. 6)

| If your serious about DJing and its not a hobby you get the Pioneer's no matter what the price is etc...currently the pioneers are industry standard highly unlikely you will find Denon's(not saying they are bad or better) in clubs/studios...sorta like how if you plan on producing in a studio you better learn some Pro-Tools cuz thats the industry standard etc |

For recording, yes. For dance music production, no. There is no across-the-board standard. Logic, Cubase, and Digital Performer are all popular. Pro Tools, not so much.

Oh, man. I hope Pioneer doesn't put a motorized platter on their next-gen players. That would suck! If they did do that, I would hope that they would continue offering CDJ-1000s as they are now. You know, for those who prefer performance to gimmicks.

Looking at that info, am glad they havent changed that much . Having just bought three of them i would be very pissed off indeed if they had some major new feature on the new model.
Tried playing Mp3s (data not burned as audio) out once- and it wasnt pretty- so will never do it again, so no big loss. |

yes but most of the studios of choice from some of the good house producers (Morillo, Sanchez, an Amsterdam studio used by many euro edm djs) have pro-tools....logic cubase and others I have found to be just as standard but more portable...logic to a degree since you need the keyboard but whatever thats not this topic :P
completly right on the rest of the points. I would find a motorized platter to be quite annoying and cheap if you ask me....border line cop out and why should they since the previous one's that have come out have been busts
Also if they were implying Denon & Technics or whoever is ahead of Pioneer they are crazy...I prefer A&H mixers to Pioneer and you can make a very good argument they are but only there. Pioneer CDJ/EFX machines are the clear winner |

NUMARK for LIFE
i have 3 residencies and i ALWAYS bring my numarks wherever i play
no matter what... i wont play without my numarks
they KILL anything from pioneer and the feel is just the best
effects and all... cant beat it
also... cant wait to have the new HDX out

I hope for the love of God that they don't inklude a motorized platter, ive owned a Denon DN-S5000
with the motorized platter and it really, royally, sucked.
It just felt cheap, not strong enough and just made me afraid that i would break it. |

This is a stupid statement. If you're serious about DJ'ing, you'll be able to play on any CD deck (unlike with vinyl, where the deck can really make a big difference).
If you actually get lucky enough to play out, you're MOST likely to encounter a booth with a Denon Dual CD-player, not CDJ's (unless it's a big or new venue).
And most pro electronic music producers don't use "pro-tools"...

I personally don't have a need for a motorized platter, my CDJ-1000 platter works fine for me.
But I can see why people want it... and although this may sound ridiculous, it DOES look "cool".
Now as for the DN-S5000 comment, you probably haven't used the S3500. That platter feels basically as sturdy as a Technics. It's direct drive with a ton of torque. I was very impressed with the feel of that player.
With the S3500, if you don't like a spinning platter, you can TURN IT OFF. After which the player works very similar to the Pio's. Plus, the player built really well (feels nice and solid).
Don't get me wrong, I love my CDJ's, but I just think this "industry standard" argument is just plain false, the 1000's are dated.

| Not to mention that the 3500's and the 5000's (not sure about 3000's) also are capable of 0.02% pitch increments. |

denon dual cd's are popular in the US but I started in europe so I need to change that statement...most of the euro one's i have encountered have cdj's....and we can go on and on but I guarrentee you they know how to work pro-tools:rolleyes: |
