Here's a 2-disc set I made back in 2002 or early 2003.
The tracklist is on the ID3 tag.
The second disc is my favorite of the two.
The first one starts pretty slowly, but pretty abruptly gets much harder around 40 or 50 minutes in. One night I was at On Broadway for dinner, and they had some crooner (David Patrone (?) maybe?)singing great standards and as he was wrapping up I snuck out to my car for a couple quick rips. I was gone maybe 10 or 15 minutes and when I came back in, the tables had been cleared off the dancefloor and the place was JUMPING. It was a total mindwarp.
So I was sort of inspired to do a mix where you're just sort of humming along and something unexpected smacks you out the middle of nowhere and you're like "what the just happened?" So keep this in mind when it changes gears.
Nowadays I try to keep a more uniform theme throughout a mix; my earlier stuff was more (perhaps overly) ambitious about covering a lot of ground.

I'll have the second link up shortly. |
