so i'm in the US and i want to ship a bottle of liquor to a friend in the UK as a gift. i called UPS and Fedex and they said i couldn't do it. i know i could just package it well and send it off, but you think the package would be scanned/checked? i'm scared of it getting seized in transit....
not the ideal "c0r" thread, but i'm not sure where else to ask! |

I sent a hundred bucks in an envelope last week. I forgot that the postage went up 2 cents. I was expecting to get it back, but it hasn't come yet. So they either shipped it without worrying about due postage, or someone stole my ing money.
Or maybe it is taking a while for it to come back to me.
And I can't help you, sorry. |

i don't know about that.
have you tried the us postal service ?
i think 'a bottle of liquor' falls under one of those things you cannot send through the mail , due to the Patriot Act ?? i don't know my post 9/11 laws and regulations.
but also. who needs to know there is liquor inside ? stuff it inside a box, put some newspapers around the bottle , and ship it out. the post office doesn't have to know about it. :D |

yeah, that's what i want to do....i'm not sure if they scan the packages, and if so, if packing materials would mask the illegal contents.... |

hey.
i know someone that actually sent a set of tools (screwdrivers, wrench, etc) and a imatation nijitsu japanese sword through the mail. and the package reached with no damages. that is pretty strange. he wrapped everything with newspapers and stuffed it in the mail. :conf: |

| i think when sending things internationally,, you have to declare what the item is for customs. of course, you can lie about what it is, and then risk paying a stiff fine/going to jail. |
