At some point, they'll ask something along the lines of "will you enforce the law as the judge describes it to you?"

Just say no.

Well at least until they make Jurors a paid profession I guess we have to find people somehow. People don't like to volunteer for 5hrs of boredom + the possibility of having to do it for a long trial.

jury duty's not bad. you do get paid to do it. i sat on a murder trial last year for two weeks. just think, if you go, you don't have to go for a few years. most of the time they send people home after the first day anyway.

jury duty not fun?? Pauly Shore would beg to differ..

your employeer requires your services to meet the deadline on a critical contract, and without your services during the trial period the contract deadline will be missed. this results in your employeer loosing the contract, and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

no further questions were asked.

jury duty. when they are ready to pay my normal salary for my time, i'll be glad to be there.. until then, they can lick my coin purse.

You'd better be able to back that up if they call, because they do. I work at a law firm and I've seen a couple of jurys selected. In Delaware, which is where a lot of civil cases are tried because a lot of companies incorporate there, they've been fairly lenient with letting people off. I've seen parents get off because they're supposed to pick up a child from school on the last scheduled day of a one week trial, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't mind being on a jury. My firm, as well as a lot of other companies, pay me my normal salary for jury duty and don't deduct sick/vacation days, so it's just like a different job for a few days/weeks. One of the guys at my firm got picked for one of the large corporate scandal trials (can't say which one) and he was out for a few months except for one day every week when they didn't have trial, then he had to come to work.

I've just been given the big slip in the mail to go to jury duty for the first time in my life. The only reason I don't wanna go is because I heard it's pretty boring. If the jury vibe was similar to the way they do it on Law & Order then I'd go, but after listening to the true reality of being a juror I'd rather not go. So my question to the COR is how to avoid going to this?

i got called too. i go in on the 30th of jan. suuuckkks. its on the weekend too, so they really chose to up my off time when i work my ass off 5 days a week.
