uhhhh, was that a counter-argument to my statement? I never said to deny/ignore violence. I just argued that violence is worse than nudity.

yes it was. you're pretty much saying that we shouldn't show violence because people prefer to be healthy (w/e the hell that has to do with anything) and like ignore horrid things.

You're right in that I replied to your question, "who is anyone here, exectly, to say that it's ok to show nudity but not violence?" But that's my mistake because I didn't mean to say that we shouldn't allow violence at all. If anything, I'm trying to convey that nudity should be up to par with violence.

However, just for s and giggles I'll provide an example where I think it's better to show nudity than violence: there's a scene from Hellraiser where some dude throws this spike through this guys neck, and once piercing through to the other side it spreads apart, latches back, and the guys head slowly rolls off. Disgusting and disturbing beyond anything! Then, a couple of years later I watch a movie with Colin Ferrall and there's a nude scene but his penis is blurred out! It's just a god damn penis but I can't see it. But it's fine to show the most disturbing images of someone getting beheaded?

What's my take-home point there?: it's wrong to see a penis but it's okay to see someone get decapitated in a gruesome manner.

Sorry I didn't clarify, but I didn't intend to argue that exposure of violence is bad. Rather, I'm trying to argue that there should be more nudity. Keep in mind that I'm not arguing for rape or XXX-rated material. I'm just arguing for exposure of all human genitalia. :)

And back to the my health issue: let's say two little girls are walking down the street. One witnesses a murder and the other witnesses a naked man walking down the alley. Which one do you think will feel most distraut?

And if anyone actually watches TV you would know that it's not all that christian-like and innocent as some would have you believe. even on WB11, My wife and kids, one tree hill, etc all have tons of sexual themes per episodes.

Just wanted to pull up this quote again.

I'm arguing for solely for nudity, but you seem to be linking nudity with sexual themes in your question above. Just so you are aware, I am advocating for boobs, penises and vaginas here, but not making a case for graphic sexual intercourse, harsh passionate romantic scenes, or vulgar sexual language and behavior.

In regards to media portraying violence and sexual images, I personally think before that gets resolved, we solve the more important issues at hand, the things that cause violence and sexual exploitation to begin with. We have the american government and state majors signing off to ban GTA: San Andreas from stores because of it hidden sexual content. Yet scourching people to death is suitable, for those over 18-19 years of age. What is even more halarious, we have the presidence and his clan of monkeys sending soldiers over seas to go scourch some 'terrorist' in order to 'liberate' their country and 'fight for a safer world (or is it a safer government position)'.

So virtual sex, very bad. Digital scourching, kinda bad. Going over seas bombing the out of people and sexual exploiting prisoners to 'fight for a safer america', well that's justice!

Well, the violence is very bad and nudity is not "so" immoral. If u want to look at naked people, it is ur matter. But porn is bad, not just because it is porn but also because the crimes related with it (at this point I mean the porn industry, not a porn meaning naked scenes in a film). I know that maybe u dont see anything bad on porn now but allowing porn at all levels lets people think that anything is allowed in sexual matters and it may result in sexual anarchy were rape for some individuals means a normal stuff. You must reason that there will be always far more stupid people than normal stupid people and they will do far more stupid things than a normal stupid people concerning the law situation.
However, the violence is already in the situation were some individuals (or I shall say masses?) think that everithing is allowed and showing brutality is normal.
Some weeks ago I saw in the news that american soldiers bombed a village, cos reputedly there was hiding the second most important member of Alkaida. Of course, his corpse was not found but about 20 civilians died. Yes, maybe they were hiding some terrorist but did they have another choice? I suppose not...
For me consideration about what is worse and what is better between nudity and violence is pointless. It is definitely violnece that is the worst but what u wanna do about it? You want to become a president and change it? :) Or what u want to find something that is responsible for it, like a church? Isnt it somehow stupid? Or u want to fight for more nudity and less violence? How? By words? Than u will never succeed. The other will just ignore u. By weapons? Then u will be like those who commit the violence. Hmm, u may also become a porn director and spam the world with porn movies, so there will be more nudity than violence but I am not sure if this is the best way to fight against violence :)
So we could just complain about it...

Who has seen the movie Hostel? How come the Christian "Right" hasn't protested that movie. That is about the sickest, most twisted movie ever to make the big screen so far. I unfortunately seen that movie, and regretted it after. especially because right after the movie, some punk bumped into me in the washroom, and I seriously thought about beating the out of him & drowning him in the toilet. While the screen writer has a chance to tell a story, he instead decided to portray as much violence as possible just for the sake of it.

And waht does a y movie do with Cristian "Right" ? As far as I know, the Cristianity isnt here to tell you which movie is good and which movie is a junk. For this purpose you should read a movie magazine, so dont spit on Christian right if you seen a bad movie and they dont informed you about it.

Yea. GG America.

It's not too surprising... example being watching any kind of reality crime invistigation TV, while interesting-- sometimes they have videos of people getting their brains blown out (amature video camera stuff)

It bothers me that we can show dead bodies, parts, and video of people getting nailed on TV, but nudity is just off limits.

America has always had it's priorities straigt.

Last I checked, the Conservatives and the Christian right weren't thrilled about Brokeback Mountain, and accussed Hollywood of having a homosexual agenda when the movie was awarded 4 golden globes.

I think (note: I think) Shamen DJ's is making the point that while cencorship of nudity has roots in religion and conservatives, there doesn't tend to be protest to the same degree by those group when it comes to depicting violence. I could be wrong?

Maybe you are right but that is not true. Maybe it is because I am from different continent than most of u but I am closer to the Vatican City :P so maybe I am better informed about Christianity and maybe u know only what u want to know about Christianity. The Christianity was always strictly against the violence (well, ok, in the past some people did some bad things and they call them self Chritian people but that was really long time ago and even the pope admited that they did bad things...). I dont know what u guys are talking about, the Crhistianity cares more about nudity than violence??? That is not true, really, believe me :) They do as much as they can in case of violence but I see, u arent enough informed about it. There are many priests and missionaries right in the middle of battles to help injured peoples. They are risking their lives and sometimes they die. I think this is something u will never want to do willingly, do u? But u dont want to hear this, right? You want to read articles about the pope shouting to people that they shouldnt do violence but rather show nudity or what?? Anyway, what effect it will have? I assume none. :) The Chritianity is not the political law so they can do only as much as people want to do and they are here to show us the right way, not to push us always when we are too lazy to move.

And about the movies. Why dont u scold the hollywood directors and scriptwriters when u see a really nasty movie? The are the ones resposible for this, not the Christianity. Of course, the Cristianity could do a statement in a TV about a violent movie that u shouldnt watch it and it should be forbidden and so on but why should they do this all? If people dont watch movies like that Hostel, the scriptwriters will not write scripts like that for sure.

And about the homosexual agenda. The Christianity is also against homosexuality, of course, because it is highly unnatural but what you think they can do about it when your country isnt against it too?

So the time u guys will be better informed about some thing and u will be not aimed only agianst Christianity, we could have a better discussion.
