Okay I'am not quite sure how to word this but here goes
Is there any way to remove the actual clap part in the attack so your just left with the hiss?
I never been a fan of the standered clap as I think it sounds dated but some thing does have to be placed where you would pit the clap and I kind of like the the hiss noise.
Is this white noise? and if so would I be better making my own sounds from this or is there a way o get this from adjusting the eq on a standered clap sample? Or adjuting the claps attack settings?
Hope this makes some sense. I'll try find an example. |

Maybe have a mess with the attack settings, that could work. |

You can create that kind of clap from scratch using a synth that can produce noise. The envelopes and resonance of the filter are important.
If you use Reason, I can post an example. |

| i think that the part that u like is the 'tail' of the clap. well to make it longer you have to layer 2 claps one will be the main sound, pitch down the second one as much as u want and put them together, of course the second clap will be the 'tail' while the first one is the main sound. Don't add reverb if what you want to get is a dry sound. |

Claps are always a pain in the arse to get right, they either make your pucussion or totally wreck it.
I can't stand the ferry corsten kinda snare clap he uses in some of his work. Totally kills energy, fine example is his remix of syneathesia.
I think the key here IS reverb. At least IF I am understanding you correctly, you want the kinda revrse effect that comes after a clap?
In which case I'd get a clap I like, add some reverse rever on it.
Attack on the reverb of about 130ms
Play around with the cut off's till you got a sound your happy with and have a decay of around 3 seconds.
If you then export all that as a WAV or MP3 you can chop it up either using a audio editing suite like Audacity, or Soundfordge OR mess around with Volume Envelopes in your sequencer, and cut off the actual clap leaving the whoosh of the reverse reverb. I reckon it could sound really cool. Although you'd need to still have somethig hitting where the clap usually does otherwise it could sound empty.
Or be original break the rules and become the new superstar producer!

Waves Trueverb works wonders with claps.
Real revers reverb is a pita do, pseuo reverse is much easier and much more commonly used. |

Hard to tell exactly what you're asking, but I think the answer is either going to be:
a) Throw on a reverb and mute the dry; or
b) Use EQ or highpass filter to get rid of all the lower frequencies, probably with a cutoff anywhere between 2-8 kHz (depending on what you're trying to achieve).

| All the above points and also try using a reverb that has gate/reverse functions on it.. I beleive the waves RVERB is one. |

| Why not just use a loud snare? That's what i tend to use instead of claps. |
