hey! and welcome :)
i would suggest checking out the NYC visitor's thread for names/info/locations of smaller venues with great music that you may be interested in...top of my list are (keep in mind smaller venues don't play trance..)

Bed is also a smaller venue (on top of spirit..james holden will play here next weekend!)
and the infamous future progression loft parties in park slope brooklyn :) (there was 1 last night, it's usually a monthly thang.) |

you deff meet people tranceaddicts and stuff
and you dont gotta worry about your friends wanting to leave early cause they are bored and
but yea girls deff have to watch out especially by like spirit and crobar i remember like a year ago a girl was followed to her car and was almost raped |

i figured that the smaller venues don't play trance. guess i'm gonna have to deal with it....
Are any of these places midtown or in lower manhattan? where are hotspots, usually? i live on jersey side near the holland tunnel so a commute to uptown would be a pain, especialy if i was a little drunk and by myself.

Yes girls must be extra vigilant. Even as a guy, if I find myself walking down a shady street, I call a friend to talk to till I'm in a relatively safe / well lit area again. I hear you are less likely to get attacked / harrased.
If you do got out alone, find me and I'll be happy to escort you home. wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

try 27th and 28th streets btwn 10th and 11th avenue which is on the west side, right near the west side highway. thats where you'll find crobar, spirit, and BED all within a block of each other. Sasha will be at Crobar this Friday (same night as Armin), so it might not be as crowded.

also, he'll usually be able to get you into the DJ booth
then you can meet the DJ, and get a ride home in his limo (with maybe a stop at the hotel along the way) :p |

I'll never forget (how I joined TA):
I went to Ferry's November show at Crobar alone, and saw (although I didn't know them then) Roy and Zucci standing over yonder, and I thought to myself 'I see those 2 guys at every freaking show'. So I just went up and introduced myself, and subsequently met Rob, Brooks and Sveta. What a great bunch, and I'm glad we became regulars there, not that I already wasn't but...now I had a group, just in case. So I say, clubs alone!!! Even for us girls. I guess I don't have to worry, since I'm not very pretty :stongue:
Rob: "Gee, I don't know any girls that go to clubs by themselves".
Me: "Hunny, I just spent a week alone in Jamaica!" :eyes: |
