free pepi!lol
that'll never get old.
in all honesty I dont know how I could ever give it up. Its not so much the music etc, its the social aspect. Just hanging out with all the people Ive met over the years through the scene is somnething that will keep me going back for a long long time. There is nothing like hanging with all the syd.ta's and other friends that ive made, all sharing a common interest and simply just the down right best group of people. Forget the music dude, weve all become jaded old men, with nothing better to do at clubs than to laugh at those munted, up n comers who know every track the dj plays (mind you that was us back in the day). |

jake, yeh coz i haven't been going out. work, finances and getting old does that to ya. averaging 10 hour days in the office now.
These days i prefer just staying home and watching tv or a nice casual dinner/bbq with mates.
The motivation for the club environment is gone.
gil - i can't handle the smoking in the clubs, late nights, randoms messed up on chems, driving to and from the city and the rest of it.
time for this dude to look into buying properties, career, family and all things oldies are meant to do haha. oh and there are sooo many places i've yet to travel to.
what can i say, priorities change. it'll happen to you guys soon enough.
sure if i'm feelin it in 3 years time i'll be calling ya! if the ultimate warrior can do it, so can I bahaha |
Anf, now you're starting to sound like me a year or two ago. :)
I just discovered this thread while rummaging through the archives... looking at what I missed in 2005 while I was away from Tranceaddict.com.
I know exactly how you feel Anf. I thrusted myself into the scene in 1998... Age of Love at Metro theatre... House of Decadence at Skygarden NYE 1998 where I had an amazing mind-blowing acid trip... I'll never forget those moments, those were crazy days.
But these days I have so many other things to think about and plan and I have to take on more responsibility, especially since I am now self-employed (I left IBM in May last year. I make money from the financial markets now).
I was once obsessed with trance - buying, collecting, downloading and listening to trance; and attending trance events to totally experience the trance whilst in a self-prescribed elevated state of mind together with friends and many other like-minded people on the same level. Staying focused on more important things at the moment leave me little time and energy to even think about these things, let alone do them.
Though I still like the music and want to catch up with all the good trance music I've missed! Maybe I'll get back into it when things are less turbulent and things are more under control for me.
I never would have imagined you'd change any time soon, but we all change eventually; it's called growing... or growing old. :)
I agree with a few others here, that you don't have to fully quit; just be more selective in what events to attend, even if it means going only a few times a year.
Welcome to the jaded tranceaddict club! :)
