Piss poor exuse when we live in a democracy.
Reality check, the people get to vote corrupt governments out of office like we're about to do.
Don't make it sound like we're some 3rd world country.

what's more interesting is that for all you talk about how biased and left-controlled the star is and all, you have no problem when another newspaper shows just how right-leaning and biased it is.

No interest in the common fairness, huh? Or is bias only bias when it's directed against your party of choice?

Bias is bias, no matter where and when it takes place. However, bias by itself is not a dirty word - it's bias presented as objective news that's unacceptable.

Jeff, speaking of newspaper bias, I just noticed that article you quoted was from the National Post. I'm sure you know that it's owned by CanWest Global which is clearly conservative friendly.

Similarly to the above reply, there's a fine line between bias and misinformation. Also, let's be clear about the word "conservative" here - they are without a doubt right of the Liberals and the Star/Globe, but that does not necessarily make them right of center. With respect to this election, the Globe's editors have also endorsed Harper and the CPC, so it's a moot point anyway. Only the Star thinks we should re-elect Martin.

indeed...the Sun DEFINES sensationalism, lol

call the Toronto Star left-wing, biased...but the Sun is nothing more than tabloid-quality opinion pieces.

like I've said before, and this has NOTHING to do with political affilliation...I had a professor teaching a class on logic and argumentation theory give out a small assignment. Two points for finding a logical fallacy in an article in the Globe & Mail, one point for the Toronto Star...zero for the Toronto Sun :p

let's look at a few points, quickly scanning the list:

quote:
3 Attack ads. Smearing Stephen Harper. And our soldiers. Approved by Paul Martin himself. In Canada.

- yes, he did...it was awful. So was new CPC ad attacking Layton...among their points, stating that he claims to favours legalizing "drugs" (a *wee* bit of an exaggeration when you advocate decriminalizing marijuana, but since when has the Sun been picky on details, lol).

quote:
11 PM pledges mandatory minimum sentences for some crimes, despite Justice Minister's assertions they don't work."

- correct again...but why is this a criticism given that Harper is pledging the same thing?

quote:
35 Secret health deal proposed to NDP; Layton rejects it.

- um, that's the way a minority gov't HAS to work...by making deals with at least one opposition party!

quote:
31 Martin reversed sensible stand on U.S. missile defence.

- what does that even mean? "sensible" by who's standard?

quote:
41 Registered several CSL ships under foreign flags to avoid Canadian taxes.

- that's just smart business...the issue is not that he did that, it's that he created the loophole for the country in question. At least get the point of criticism right!

quote:
47 Personal doctor runs a private clinic.

- logical fallacy...how is that relevant to his gov't position on healthcare? If Harper's MP is a priest and says that gay marriage is a battle betweeen "righteousness and immorality", but we're that's not relevant to his candidacy or party policy, then how is the position of Martin's doctor relevant to Martin's party policy on healthcare. DOUBLE STANDARD.

quote:
73 PM's handpicked Winnipeg candidate Glen Murray lost to quadriplegic Conservative Steven Fletcher.

- ok, clue me in here...but WTF?!? I'm not familiar with this story...but...barring a side note, is the writer insinuating that Martin's chosen one lost to 'a mere cripple' or something? Holy ...wow...someone should lose their job for printing that.

quote:
116 Herb Dhaliwal called U.S. President George Bush a failed statesman.

- bahahaha...I'd have to agree. He's a bully, not a stateman.

quote:
131 The forensic accountants who exposed the Enron scandal said even they couldn't tell where all the AdScam cash went.
Yet people claim Martin must know where it all went...so the critics know more than the FORENSIC ACCOUNTANTS involved. ok then!

quote:
187 1995: Almost lost the country in Quebec referendum.
- *slight* exaggeration...typical Sun sensationalism though. "lost the country", LOL...ok.

quote:
196 2002: Responded when asked what kind of proof he'd need to join the invasion of Iraq: "A proof is a proof and when you have a good proof it's because it's proven."

- not the most capable speaker...but are we really going to bring up not joining the "war" (illegal invasion) of Iraq. Come on now...the RIGHT decision is made and they can only attack his poor choice of words...how pathetic.

The Sun is a joke...

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats the funniest thing ever....

thanks for making me laugh this morning :)

PS: the only one running things like a dictator to me is Martin and his "government knows better than the beer and popcorn public" mentality

Yet another reason to not vote Lieberal - RelocationScam.

Liberals rewarding their friends using taxdollars under the guise of "Relocation Services"

$2.25 BILLION for "Relocation Services": Going to Luxury Hotels, Spas, Golf Resorts

The NDP has my vote. I'm tired of the liberals, and Martin has had a piss poor, desperate election campaign this time around. However I will never ever vote conservative, no matter how many reasons some newspaper gives me.

Once again, there is nothing wrong with a 'conservative' party in office. But Harper, and his small, tight-knit group of advisors are all from the Canadian Alliance/Reform party and have supported extremist policies in the past. I still thik liberals will bounce back in Ontario at least just like in the last election.

And Jayx - im white and i dont see how you can find that racist because white people have dominated other races and cultures throughout history and WE HAVE NOT BEEN OPPRESSED. Basically, conservatives are people who want to maintain the status quo and continue going in that direction. The Sun is promoting this
