Hello mates!
My Promo Mix is now online again (Server was down; had to re-upload it, sorry. There might be some problems with downloading). I hope you like the tracks,
Mixing is not that bad, too. (Harmonic mixing:rolleyes: )
I Think i could have been working a bit more on phase matching, but it is not that bad.:D
It would help me very much if you could write a little review about the fades or the track progression/playlist.
download here (mp3 160 kbps, about 1h20min)
playlist:
1. 2 Players - Signet [Plastic Angel Remix]
2. Solar Stone - Solarcoaster [Original Mix]
3. Dido - Sand In My Shoes [Above & Beyond Remix]
4. Moonman - Galaxia [solarstone Remix]
5. Art of Trance - Complete Madagascar [Domi-Nation Remix]

Hey!
I've downloaded the mix 8-9 hours ago (the link from previous thread) and had a listen.
Mixing/beatmatching were very good IMHO. Don't know what to think about these pitch changes  Too much of them. Beginning of Dido was clashy for me. Other pitch changes were somehow acceptable :D And what's that silence at 38:34? :)
Nevertheless it was worth a download. No, slsly. Good work.
BTW. what happened to the old thread? |

I wanted to get this mix harmonic and
because not all the tracks in the mix have the same key, mix was done with key shifter :D So i had to get the tracks back to their original key after i've done the fade.
the silence was caused by an not-wanted movement of the fader;
caused by my ellbow.
thanks for teh review!
(last thread was deleted by miself; because i thought i wouldnt get the mix up again. *dam* server!) |

Tis good, I like the classics :)
Again, the silence is a mistake that anyone can make, no big deal. But I wasnt too keen on the big pitch down going into Lethal Industry. I dont DJ but I would have tried to do it more gradually rather than suddenly.
Other than that, great mix :) |

that makes sense :) OK I need to listen once again and focus on these keys. How do you recognize the keys? Is it all about listening and deciding if it match or is there something more about it? I know there is lot of theory on this, but I'm not convinced if it's strongly recommended to use it in everyday mixing. |

that key-matching works like this:
first, do the tempo - pitch matching.
then go over to the key. Matching keys is - like matching tempo - something that is very hard at the beginnig;
but after some practise you get to the point, that you just "know" how many semitones/cents to go up/down (again: something like this is only possible with key-shifters; if not, you have to get tunes with the same key. ->harmonic mixing thread)
Harmonic mixing is like the next state of mixing evolution.
It's hardly possible to get the fades so smooth with non-harmonic Mixing.
1. state of dj evolution:
just let tracks run after each others
2. state of dj evolution:
tempo/phase match and fading
3. state of dj evolution:
equing and effects
4. state of dj evolution:
harmonic mixing/key matching
correct me if this is wrong.:D |
