I need some help with my computer... I used to be able to burn stuff with my cd-r drive using nero and play music or do anything on my computer without a problem. But now whenever I try to burn something with nero , it lags everything and I can't do I can barely surf the net when I'm burning.

I've defragged my computer, upgraded my memory (from 256 pc-133 to 512 pc-133 and video card and none of that has solved the problem. Any ideas what it could be? I have a 120 gb HD that I run my OS from and it has over 19gb space left on it.

Help? Please?

Did you have problems before you installed the new RAM or after?

What kind of resources is it using? (Do a test burn then CTRL+ALT+DELETE to get the task manager and see)

I have a 1.2 athlon with 512mb of pc-133 memory, 64mb radeon 7000 vid card and a 120gb hd. It's a plextor 16/10/40a plexwriter.

it was already running slow before i added more memory.

reinstalling nero would help?

did you make any other changes? with regards to upgrades to your OS ? sp2 will slow ur comp down a lot...get ad-aware and run that to clean up any crap and i hope ur using firefox or opera ? if ur not then get and dont use IE as its rubbish.

when you do the burn hit ctrl, alt, del then click the process tab and see whats going on with ur memoy and processor when you open a webpage or listen to music, if ur process is spiking then u need to stop a few apps which are running in the background while the burn is going, how full is ur system tray ?

click start then run and type in msconfig a window will open up, select the last tab and unclick any programs you dont need running when ur computer boots up, dont uncheck any of the C:windows sys32. just programs like quicktime, winamp etc.... dont worry you can still use them they just wont load in the system tray at boot up...
