while this is certainly true (and something to always remember when creating music), for a dj to mix tracks in and out they must be relatively close in bpm to allow for beatmatching without sounding weird. a 115 bpm track pushed up to 145 bpm won't sound anything like what the artist intended.
there are no rules in music, but because of the way most dance music is brought to listeners, via the dj, having a predetermined tempo is a quirky part of production. |
