Doom 3 wasn't scary, just cool.

Oh well - time for an upgrade.

Haha man same exact thing happened to me...

FEAR loses half of its awesomeness when you have to lower the graphic settings to play.

if a game loses its awesomeness becoz you have to turn the graphics down then the game cant have been that good in the first place.

In game such as FEAR, the atmosphere is the game and we all know that the atmosphere is directly related with the graphics :tongue2

^^ well, like ive already stated, FEAR = bad coding. and atmosphere is a whole-package phenomena, not *just* graphics ;)

Graphics and sound are the too biggies; usually graphics is where the people struggle. Whats wrong with the coding?

for the life of me i cant see how the look of the game = such bad frame rates on lower end machines. sure, i dont have a ninja machine but even at the lowest settings it still ran like a dog. whereas doom & HL ran fine at the medium settings, and looked awesome. room mate has a ninja PC and i think it looks like to be honest.

and i disagree with you when you say graphics and sound are the two biggies (tho i think theyre obv important). how about execution? or the ideas the game can implant in your head which creates the atmosphere. i thought AvP looked pretty when it came out yet the atmosphere was sensational.

Excuse me, but what is AvP?
