Saw the trailer for Silent Hill: The Movie this past week and found a Hi-Res today. I believe the film will turn out great considering the huge support by gamers united who for the most part, piss all over films adapted from video games.
Christoper Gans is directed the film that was approved by Konami's Team Silent Hill and given a soundtrack composed/edited by the highly praised Akira Yamaoka. Hoorah for the inclusion of our beloved Pyramid Head (brief violent glimpse in the teaser and about a half-second shot in the trailer)

The movie should be good. The story should be deep and left for many interpretations. In fact, it better be because the monsters are far too apparently CG and I'm hoping they take a pass through some filters.
So, anyone else think Heather in SH3 is hot? |

This movie is not directed by Eli Roth. This film is being shot by Christophe Gans.
Also, the majority of monsters shown in the trailer so far were not CG. They were costumes with added CG material.
This film is turning out excellent though. So far it seems to be the most loyal to any game-to-movie adaptation yet. There is an amazing depth of detail that Gans is going to when shooting this film as well. Little stuff, like how Sharon is carrying the exact same coloring book in the movie that Cheryl (from SH1) carries in the game.
I hope this movie catches on with the audience, because I would love to see a sequel for one of my favorite game series.

The decision for me is when to see. It is getting a fair amount of hype as a strictly by-the-book horror film. I feel the movie is going to require an audience that has a good understanding to the games as well as metaphors/sybols. Going to the midnight show with a packed theater, I have a feeling most of the audience is going to laugh or chuckle at many of the deep meanings and interpretations trademarked in the Silent Hill series. Of course, I can hope the die-hard fans are the majority and it will be a great theatrical atmosphere.
Or see it 8 hours later in the daytime matinee with 10 people in the theater. |

trailer looks lush! it looks very faithful to the game. i wanna see how they're gonna pull off the 'dark silent hill' effect. it looked really good with the walls moving etc.
