you might see Dryden make a run at it now, but his lack of experience as an MP would hurt him big time. I do think it's high time we had a non-French Liberal leader though. Well, there was Turner in the 80s but he was a moron. |

nothing to do with it. Martin, Chretien and Trudeau were all Quebecers. If the Liberals want to rebuild, they're going to have to start winning back Ontario and the West. It's time an Ontarian or Maritimer took over the party. Federalist French should not and do not own the Liberal Party. |

no one owns the party, what is this, your local kilting club?
A Canadien leader didn't prevent Ontario to vote for him and stay as a PM all these years, happily not everyone in Canada is like yourself, close minded francophobe.
One thing you might not get, is that many PM are lawyers by profession and that 9 out of 10 biggest firms in Canada are located in Montréal.
and for some reason you imply that a Canadien PM is bad for Canada and good for Quebec which is not the case, look at what these guys did to prevent the split of the country... nothing and still don't want to acknowledge Québec. |

man, get real. The Liberals have been dominated by Quebecers for decades. And you talk about francophobes...try getting people west of Ontario to vote for a French PM. Oh wait...they don't and haven't for for 20 years. Didn't you watch Harper's victory speech? Every time he spoke in French there were boos and VERY muted cheers. Westerners can't stand Quebec and you're calling me, a lifelong supporter of the Liberal party and a federalist Quebec, a francophobe, because I think it's time for an Anglo Canadian to take over the party's reigns?
Man...seriously, stop being so paranoid. |

Quebec hating? more like jealous of Quebec, or envious of the attention its getting... its penis envy. Harper using Levesque in its speeches, Alberta wants to "firewall itself" like Quebec did 40 years ago... etc etc.
anyhow, you are clueless and its now clear, the west isn't voting for the Liberals because of a Canadien PM (Paul Martin is so Quebecois:rolleyes:) but because they don't stand Liberal values and its centralization.
Don't mix things, you're just imagining stuff, same thing goes for the boos... i listened the same speech as you, no boos, reserved cheers because they don't understand and don't know whats the cue for cheering.:p |

you need to go out west and talk to some people. I met many people in Edmonton, Calgary and in BC who cannot stand the Liberals for many reasons, one of which is because they see it catering to Quebec way too much. Sure, you might not get any of them admitting it on here, but francophobia is as rampant out there as anti-Ontario sentiment and anti-western sentiment is in Ontario.
There were tons of boos and people yelling negative things when Harper was speaking French. You must be deaf....but it's quite clear you're a very paranoid quebecer in any event. You use that francophobe thing way too much. |
