well broken wings is brilliantly done imo. take on me you might be dissapointed in:whip: it only plays the hook.no vocals

I have listened to many a recommendations in this thread on some good remixes of 80s track and in my opnion, only 2 have stood out so far (way ahead of the rest of the league):

LMC Vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above
Max Graham vs Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart

Billie Jean - Bushwacka Mix is good too but doesn't really add anything to the original track.

Just convinces me that there are lot of good tunes out there that are yet to be picked up and mixed into something mindblowing.

Just hope some of our "godly" DJs wake up and scroll back and pick up some of them instead of making us throw up with their recent trashes.

Journey - Don't stop believing (DJ Versatile Mix)

What can i say - beautiful mix. I doubt if you can get it though.

I have a rip of it's live airplay and just love it! This after spending gazillion days exchanging mails with the radio-station and the DJs to find out what mix was that.

i prefer the original extended mixes to 80's songs. Looping of samples doesnt justify the songs in most cases.

a nice remix is

bronski beat - small town boy (secret service remix)

agreed. but i feel they were much better in the nineties. starting with the violator stuff. id say after "Black Celebration" (86) they really started to show what they were about. so i agree. but they only got better with age imo.

It is okay since it's only your personal opinion but Depeche Mode was just one of the bands that made 80s great. In fact, 80s had as many bands making it great as songs.

If i were to ever make my top-100 tracks, the first 80 would be from 80s. Enuff said :).

A few years ago, while staying in Destin Florida for the weekend, I walked through an outdoor shopping mall that was having its grand opening. They had dancers, entertainers, people walking around on stilts, etc, etc, and a few dj's in an outdoor music booth. At one point they played a remixed version of 'Your Love' by the Outfield, always a guilty pleasure from the 80's. The re-mix sounded pretty cool. Has anyone else ever heard this dancified version?

sorry to bump this thread, but was just thinking while hearing the track on the radio. A remix of Doobie Brothers - What a fool believes would definitely top my rankings ^^ Most 80's seem to have some kind of 'wrong' image anyways hehe:happy2:

Fake_Illusion,

Your ID reminds me of an 80s track that could and SHOULD really be mixed into a darkish trance.

Yeah, you guessed it right.

Imagination - Just an illusion

I am gonna try it tonite on my CDJ. Just for fun.:gsmile:

Oh, because you don't like the way it sounds to your refined earlobes. Music too tough for ya, huh? Too dark is it? Not enough pretty melodies to keep you enthralled? Baby want his baba? Huh? It's true though, Merzbow ain't got nothin' on Debbie Deb.

actually my description referred to the atrocity of attempting to fuse poppy 80's with Noel's breaks sound. an interesting idea, but it should have been left as an idea. i would compare the disparity to an Emperor cover of 'Barbie Girl' ok maybe not that bad.. but close.

dude, I listen to black metal (sometimes). nothing EDM producers can ever make is too dark for me.

bands? or one hit wonders? there were a ton of the latter, too few good ones of the former. especially if we stray outside the realm of metal.. that was really the one genre where the 80s shone.

i remember hearing a rather decent electro version of corey hart's 'sunglasses at night'
