his music is def. part of a reason i got into trance so much
im not saying he's the only one that influenced my taste in music.
sure maybe he's overrated and i do believe a lot of other djs deserve the same credit
so far, there is no other cd i love to listen to when i get back home from a club:) its quite relaxing and easy:p

i swear now i don even have one live set or an album from tiesto in my collection but no matter what i respect him.
I don' jus understand why people hate him. i think it's stupid to hate or love a Dj too much. |

you have to remember that a lot of people do not like where Tiesto is taking Trance Music....especially old schoolers, like myself, we don't want to see the music become a Walt Disney Adventure....or become to commercial....tiesto has his fans....personally, I don't care for the majority of fans that he get....you look at this weekend...you have Deep Dish and Johan playing this weekend and the hype in TOTA land is huge for these two events. With Tiesto you are gonna get the same hype but you are also gonna get the Z103 crowd who hear tiesto all the time and think that is the be all and end all to trance. They don't appreciate the music, they just like it because a top 40 channel on the radio tells them it's good. I will never forget back in July when one guy in line was affraid he would miss the start of Tiesto because it was almost 11 pm. When I told him not to expect tiesto to be on until at least 1 he couldn't understand how the main act could come on so late. When I told him how late the party went on he was shocked that a party would keep going after the alcohol stopped flowing.
For me it is not tiesto I hate...it's the type of people that flock to him that bothers me. If tiesto got the same crowd as Deep Dish and Johan will get this weekend then I wouuld probably go see him. Also, I really don't like his style of trance. |

because many fools think that because theyve listened to trance for a few years, and have thousands of posts on TA, they're perception of good music is the only music should be liked. And if someone thinks differently, they are wrong. such retards also like to impose their opinions on other people because they dont understand that everyone has different taste/opinions in music or simply have too much time on their hands.
For the thread starter:
Many people appreciate Tiesto and what he's done for trance. Any real trance fan would. Not every TA is a trance addict. |

ya i agree with you and also admit that tiesto crowd is kind of Gino nowadays and i think it all started from the fact that he was the best Dj for couple of years in row and mainstream recognised him. also MTV played his "traffic " video.
But i my opinion we shouldn't look so negative at things ,maybe a gino guy that listens to trash euro music starts liking trance just by these mainstream tiesto songs and then become a real trancer.
As a matter of fact i've seen how a gino freind of mine developed from listening Gino beats to tiesto and then now he listens to AVB , blank and jones,M.I.k.E and even some progressives.
So tiesto's music (not always) can be a good transport to trance music. |

Absolutely... every true trance lover has to understand and respect what Tiesto has done for the industry. He was one of the next gen pioneers after Oakenfold fell out of the spotlight. It's a fact... he has helped our industry more than most will acknowledge or understand... I believe he's also hindered our industry a great deal. I'm not trying to push my opinions on anyone, but I'm a firm believer of sharing knowledge and education.
I believe most are not necessarily Tiesto haters, but are rather frustrated with the type of hybrid clubber his marketing has spawned. Tiesto's fan base is generally the new post-rave era of trance music lovers. Most never experienced where trance was formed and the community it created and can't understand how its current state is destroying the industry we once had. They're part of a type of propeganda that has people believing that DJs are super human rock stars and forget about the music that they play. They see rankings and promotion instead of new and experimental music... which is what really drives the industry. "Well if Tiesto plays it.. it must be good..." Wrong... Tiesto plays what he knows will sell. He knows what sells because "THEY" tell you what the "best" is and what you want. "THEY" don't care about the music, they simply care about the money it generates.
Tiesto is the Britney Spears of Electronic Music (I don't mean that as a slam or dig whatsoever... just a comparison between industries)... Doesn't mean he has no talent... It simply means that he's got an army behind him doing everything to make you believe that you'd rather pay money to see him play music than any other DJ. Anyone that believes that a title such as "#1 DJ in the world" holds any sort of validity is simply a robot. There is no such thing as a #1 DJ. Just a better PR group ;)

many would argue that he is doing to bring trance into the mainstream spotlight but then again many will argue differently. most of tiesto haters are ppl who dont even listen to trance. they used to but now they dont, becuase " they know what real music is "
but then again alot of tiesto haters are ppl who run to the box office to buy his ticket when he is in town and are in line at the club before the beer truck arrives.
one thing is for sure tho, we all are n00bs and dont even have a single track or experience or anything of that sort under our belt like tiesto does. or for that matter whomever your favourite dj is. untill you yourself get some tunes out there get a record deal of some sort or play some events like tiesto has or any other top djs i dont think theres room to talk . and that implies to me as well cos i often catch myself putting down tiesto or armin for just reason of them not making the kind of music " I " like.
