Matthias Heilbronn first witnessed Larry Levan at the legendary Paradise Garage back in ’86. Three years later, in ’89, he moved from Germany to New York to pursue his love for the music that changed his life. He learned engineering, programming and editing at Axis Studios, with François K. as his mentor, and Frankie Knuckles as his roommate. Soon, he had the privilege to meet and work with Larry Levan and Tom Moulton. He became one of New York’s most in demand editors and programmers, working with producers Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry, Tommy Musto, C&C Music Factory and François K. Eventually, it was Tommy Musto who released Matthias’ first record.
