Not competition, because I don't care. No one does any of the stuff I do. And besides, I bury all comers anyway.

99% of the sites listed here don't exist anymore. And the rest haven't been updated in so long they might as well not exist.

I remember getting into a gigantic email fight with the owner of ravernews.com over it. I told him he'll be defunct in under a year. He said he had too much enthusiasm to give it up. That's all fine and dandy, but enthusiasm alone doesn't run websites.

The average lifespan of any website is about 2 years. At that point they've either gotten over the novelty of publishing stuff on the web or they're not getting the attention/returns they thought they would (or think they deserve), and so they give up.

Without a concrete, working project plan and business model like what Jon just sketched out above, your site will go nowhere, will be visited by no one, and in a year's time you won't care about it anymore.

Writers - Clever with words and are able to express a song without words into words.

Jon- Actually, I'm very impressed with the amount of thought and planning that you're putting into trancecritic.com. Most people don't take things that seriously and/or plan out their site in that sort of way (A.K.A. the starter of this thread, it seems).

Are you still looking for reviewers? I checked out your website, and it seems great, but a bit sparse in the reviews. If you are still looking, I'd like to throw a sample review together for you.

Let me know.

i agree with ^^^, this is a brain dead plan if ever i heard one, what makes you think your site will be better than established sites like progsounds??

i can predict a half-hearted effort with ty grapics. the site wont be updated after the first month

Oh, and pay your writers. I don't care if you don't have a budget or you spent it on hooker and blow, PAY THEM. Even if it's a pittance. Every writer that works for free is undercutting the entire profession when they do so, hurting everybody.

We're getting to the point now where anyone can produce a website, but not anyone can produce good content for a website, which is what makes websites good. You want your dream to work, hire professional writers.

its not as easy as you think...

look at this site...

http://www.electronica-central.com

it worked out for a lil while, prob couse of a few inteviews and cool videos & thats the only reason why anyone went there. i had to spam some videos on tranceaddict.

if people are gonna visit this site, u better spend money on staff. as for inteviews... u better get allot of them to make your site enjoyable.

Sure thing, Jon.

Actually, I'm not 'in charge' of recruiting new writers. Thats is in the hands of the Lead Review Editor, Sykonee. I'll refer him to this thread and you. Of course he doesn't make the decision jointly, we do it together when it comes to writers. In the meantime look at this thread.

http://www.trancecritic.com/modules...=viewtopic&t=45

To get a better idea of whats expected of reviewers, you can have a email or live chat Q & A with Sykonee and then we'll take it from there.

Oh, and btw, if your check out the homepage, http://www.TranceCritic.com you noticed that we just built a brand new server to help with operations and growth. So we can deffinitly handle a greater amount of staff on the writing team. It's like our flagship item!

Shut up Ishkur! I dont want a rebellion at Tc!

Even so, I know that my guys know that if we even hit it big that they will be taken cared of. I owe them all much more then that.

Im not quite sure what to make of these comments. Its amazing how people can write off a project they have never seen and know so little about.

At a professional level of course it is understandable that writers should be paid but the dance music industry relies on passion for the music as much as anything else. Those who are really enthusuastic about the dance scene get enjoyment from letting others know what is going on.

Im afraid it will be a case of wait and see and hopefully next weekend i will be going live.

If you dont like what you see then, fair enough, but theres no benefit in shooting down a project that has not even taken off.

I could write out a business plan for you in this forum but i dont believe the people im after are interested in a business plan.

my offer is a simple one, if you want to get involved in an up and coming project, with what is really a no risk proposal, then Id be more than happy to let you get involved.

The site aims to help promote upcoming djs, producers, writers and anyone else involved in the dance scene.

Plans for a user run radio show only emphasise this, however it is something that simply is not possible to launch in the current situation.

Regards
Jon
