| What if everything that humans ever believed or even thought of was true? Would this world be complete? Would we finally come to realize that the only true 'God' is the reality which encompasses all branches of perception, including thought? Interesting to imagine there not being any right or wrong, no hard-based 'evidence' held as scientifc scripture without apodeictical disregard of extraneous variables. Maybe we would just like to keep living in the fantasy that religion is sometimes wrong and science is sometimes wrong? What if they were both correct assumptions at all times? Would this paradigm shift force a greater understanding of what 'God' really is? |

| i think tarot card reading is bull. but some of the other occult stuff does actually have something to it. mystical, spiritual stuff, they actually do have some supernatural stuff going on from it. |

Short version is this
People who engage in Christianity and believe that the occult if forbidden and wrong are trapped in a logical paradox. They place their beliefs or opionated 'truths' in a grander feeling of belonging and try to impose their wills on others. Getting information from the occult sciences is no different from trying to look for a greater truth offerd by "our savior" It seems wrong that any way of trying to gain a greater understanding could be forbidden |
I think the whole problem with Christianity is the way that they promote the fear factor in peoples lives. My goodness, with all the bad stuff going on in the world right now, do we need more fear? And for Christs sake, why isnt he doing something about it; and for that matter if there is a Devil, why isnt he? I think most people should beleive what they want and not impose it on others. That hollier than thou bull is for the ing birds. We are all equal no matter what we beleive and yet, critisized for what we beleive. I beleive in my choices and my decisions not a book. And I also beleive that we should all be helping each other. But in this world today that will never happen. To much anger and religion in it all and no ing common sense. |

Have to disagree with yah dude.
This is the main problem I see with your thinking:
"It seems wrong that any way of trying to gain a greater understanding could be forbidden."
Tarot Cards, Astrology, Palm Reading and any introduction to the occult may seem innocent and fun but like any other religions and belief systems there are stages. This might be the beginning stage but as you progress in your studies and trying to find a "greater understanding" some occult situations and rituals are dangerous and may cause people harm. Thus if you believe that "Causing harm to myself and others is fine as long as I come to a greater understanding" then you are no longer in control. Plus at some point you will be worshipping a diety of some kind or even a person and you wont be fumbling in the cave for light, you will be blindly following the light in the cave.
If I were you I would write down some lines and borders that if you crossed those barriers you would know, "hey my thinking has changed dramatic and I dont think this is a good step for me."
As a Christian I have those lines and borders as well. I will never reject a person as a friend due to their beliefs. I will never harm another person unless in defense. I will be open and honest about other people's beliefs. My core values will not change even if someone I trust says to change them. I will not force my beliefs on others, I will wait for them to approach me first because the way I live my life is my witness not my condemming words.

isn't that an oxymoron?
There is no science there, never was, never will be. You have never gone about these occult practices in a scientific way, cause if you have you would disagree with it all.
Please, please, please never refer to the occult as a science, it is just like a religion. You have these old practices that you put faith in that they work. And in order to believe in these practices you have to put aside scientific knowledge that disproves it.
:wtf: |

Perhaps, perhaps not.
maybe we'd get a tangent on the idiosyncratic nature of religion. Or maybe a long-winded post that doesn't go anywhere yet still somehow seems to make sense.

Most of the occult is like religion, you can never have solid proof it exists.
to what you think about christianity and the occult depends on what religion, there are some religions that have a little of both, I can't remember really the name of this religion, my cousin was telling me that his girlfriend's mom was in a religion that was based in judaism but had lots of other stuff too, and something about the cabala and practicing mental powers. It sounds so funny when I'm reading it right now, but he was serious about it.
Me, I believe that there is something awesome in importance behind all.. Stoped really believing in a christian god perse, I'm more into the changes of state of energy...
And that man allways looks for god because he cannot understand it all. So there is allways stuff (and lots of it) put in the metaphysical, occult, or faith spaces so they kind of make sence. |
