2-3 weeks ago I was traveling on RT 80 W in New Jersey going skiing. Well I usually drive fast and take not reguard to police or what not. This particular time I was drving fast but not weaving through lanes like a mad man. The problem was I was going too fast this time for the cop that caught me. Just finishing a defensive driving class and lowering my car Insurance 10% and no tix in the past two years mannn what a waste:wtf: . He caught me doing 76 in a 55. It sounds bad and it was. The ticket was payable and did not have to show up in court. Well I could not find out the price of the ticket until I check the NJ website until now. It showed up as 200$. Seems worth it for going atleast 20 over the speed limit. BUT........Now this is where it gets weird. :disbelief They have the wrong liscence plate # on the intenet ticket and when I check the ticket copy he gave me the last number looks like a 4 where it supposed to be a 7.

My questions are
1) Because the ticket that I am going to be paying has thw wrong liscence plate value can the ticket be thrown out if anyon else had an experience
2) Because this ticket was out of my own state do the points show up also?

I checked my NY state DMV and says no for moving violations but people I spoke say no so if anyone had any experiences can help me out in this situation.

I have until march 1st for the due date of the ticket!

in ireland something as little as that wud be thrown out of court, even if a date is wrong on a search warrant and this is brought up in court, the case wud be thrown out straight away. our court system is the most ed up in the world,4 years somebody got the other day for the manslaughter of a 11yr old boy.4 in years, how is that justified?

I'm wasted but you guys have got to realise "due process" it's gay (I know I'm ignorant but meh) but if you want to live in a culture where any form of mistake (by anyone but a scumy ) is totally unacceptable then this is the crap you gotta deal with.

If you don't then use your vote and/or stop being human i.e. a selfish nothing who cares nothing for anyone and lives for a self intrest (in curent terms someone who''ll winge about anything negative but have no solution, and will claim compensation).

If you have access to free counsel (the US does, based on income), use it and get off on a technicality. Then, don't speed ever again :p

haha, I'm so cute. I'm not American and I don't drive but I know everything there is to know about American traffic tickets.

Goooooo me!

Yes, it will show up on your record once it is convicted even though you were cited in a state other than the state in which you reside. The conviction date is the date you pay OR the date you're supposed to pay if you fail to pay and allow the violation to go to warrant.

If a conviction affects your insurance (most do in US) you should pay extra for the right to take traffic school. You pay the court the fine AND you pay extra to go to traffic school, then you pay the traffic school MORE money for the course (online since you don't live there), then you take the traffic course (don't forget cuz there's a deadline and you'll lose your money if you don't do it AND the vio will show up on your record), then you take the traffic school test and submit, then you print your results and keep them cuz you may need to prove you took the course if the violation isn't properly dismissed by the court that has jurisdiction over your ticket.

How do I know all this? My roommates are all bad drivers.

:D

Oh yeah, wrong license number. Yeah, you could appear in court and fight the vio and say you never drove a vehicle with that license plate but if the officer shows up and says "that's not a seven that's a four" you lose AND in some states, you can't do traffic school if you lose.

The only reason you do traffic school is if the court will dismiss the ticket which means it won't show up on your driving record.

If the court won't dismiss it, don't waste your money.

Blah. Longest post ever.

What about the drivers license number, if they have that, your still screwed. The plate would only matter if you were pulled over for expired registration. Based off what I know which is F all.

careful.... you plea that and not win... haha they will toss the book at you. You will have to pay the ticket plus extra court cost and that can get $$$$...I would see a lawyer or something and get some advise before I made my move.

You can fight it and claim the wrong information was on it, but either they'll make you pay or they'll write up a new citation with all of the correct info and you will have to pay then.
