Rob...this is the most serious post...ever.
Do NOT attempt to burn an avi file to dvd on a mac. I've spent a bit of time calculating the outcome of such an endeavor and well...here are my disturbing results:
I did not want to post this but since I consider you my friend I found it to be in our mutual best interest to avoid such a catastrophe.
You must pray to the God of War - Mars that he reorder the letters of His name to Arms so that He may hand down to you the appropriate software to perform the task you seek.

first off, theres an seperate subtitle file with the avi and ive never had experience with embedding them into the file before...
your only real choice is to get a divx player [dirt cheap btw]
or re-encode it.

Dont they have "Sonic My DVD" or "Adobe Encore" for MAC?
I'm sure they do, and thats what you need.
There is a Nero plugin that converts AVI to DVD Files in which you would be able to burn the files directly but that means you cant give it menus and all that mumbo jumbo you see on DVDs. |

Sometimes I look back on the that ive written & start thinking about what people actually look like if they take the form of their personalities.
From what I have so far gathered from you posts I have built a human being form up in my mind. In a calculated conclusion, this is what you really look like:
