anyways my review of armin...i thoght he was great. i brought a bunch of friends who have never heard armin live. they loved it. i listen to a lot of his recorded sets and noticed that esp in new york he spins very techno. very hard.
although his track listing was great i wish he spun a little more of a mix up. at pvd roxy a few months back it was great because he threw in there a couple hours of trance to give people a "break" and just kick it. sometimes myneck cant take the constant beating of beats.

actually now that u mention it, when i saw armin in amsterdam last june he was def more trancy and melodic, def som tech in there but not as much as crobar and certainly not as much as this past weekend. prob the hardest ive ever heard him spin before. like a couple other people said, i wish he didnt always spin the melody tracks into the hard techy basslines, but it didnt really take too much away from it for me. some lighter stuff woulda been nice though here and there...

that was my first time at spirit, is the lighting always that trippy??

Oh trust me little one, there is... and G-d help you if you get it. the worst thing is having to go when you're in the club. That's why in my early days I learned my lesson quickly and loaded up on immodium beforehand - just to make sure I won't be trying to do the deed in a urine soaked crap cubicle.

:wtf:

i graduated from main campus in 2001 december. business logistics major econ minor. i loved penn state.

Hahaha! PSU drop out here. Abington campus, class of '97, never made it through 4 years. Managed to get 1.5 years in and that was that. Tho, I did visit main campus few times - on one occasion I even blew my clutch on the way home... in the middle of nowhere (Belafonte)... in a snow storm... Good thing I had a full tank of gas, otherwise would have probably died out there. But it was fun... Especially towing my car back home. With a drunk tow truck driver behind the wheel... falling asleep every 5 minutes... and cursing me for having to drag him from Philly to state college after hard boozing... :nervous: fun times.:clown:

I thought that Armins set was really good. Nothing too extravagent but better than usual. He must have sped the BPM's up to like 138. He was playing some Tecshy Stuff ie: Marcel Woods - Advanced? Many of the tracks were taken out of recent PVD sets. It was total high energy w/o FLUFF. NO FLUFF = GOOD SET. IMO. I also enjoyed Remy's set, but I've heard him play better. And i do agree that Armin's mixing was not as crisp as it usually is. But I am in favor of him changing into the harder, less give me a pillow so I can sleep stuff that he sometimes plays. Al in all had a great night. Wound up in Philly afterwards for the rest of the weekend(thanks Janele, Jenn & Kim - awesome times). Nice seeing the usual suspects. Getting ready to leave for Amsterdam on Wednesday so I'll see y'all when I get back!

Alright so I've finally gotten the time to get on here and make a post about the night. Personally, I thought it was an awesome time. I travelled up with the PSU crew to get my necessary Armin fix and, as usual, Armin didn't let me down. Remy really got the crowd primed for Armin and by the time 2am rolled around I was really anxious. Once Armin went on everything was great. Yeah, it was crowded, but you have to expect that when you're going to see AvB in New York City...that's just the way things go these days. I wasn't really pleased by what seemed to be a large presence of people who seemed a bit out of place and lacked proper nightclub etiquette, but nothing major went wrong and the music totally made up for it. The last hour or so of Armin's set was just great and it was all topped off by MIKE's new 2006 remix of Strange World. As for the 2 encores...well, you don't have to say much about Communication Part IV and Seven Cities...they kinda speak for themselves. Throughout the night there were so many great tracks, though. Everything from Maybe Tomorrow and Metro to the Martin Roth Dub of Thrillseekers-By Your Side. Overall it was just an awesome time and I was glad to meet a few more TAs as well. Anyway...time for me to get back to studying...exam week...ugh. Later on.

BTW...can anyone confirm if Armin played Benz & MD-Under Oath (Perry O'Neil Remix). I swear I heard him play it while I was upstairs at one point, but I might just be imagining that. 5 1/2 hours worth of tracks is a lot to remember...

Haha...also, Chris now that I think of it you should probably list me as Wildefire instead of Halide since I still use my wildefire tranceaddict account even though I switched my DJ name...

haha I was thinking the exact same thing:D

Here's my $0.02
Club was far too packed. I spent most of the night up by the sound booth, just overlookin' the crowd. Was having a good time, just in a chill mood, when some 30 year old guido, steroid-poopin', meat-head douchbag buys the table near where I'm chilling, and decides that everying within a 20 foot radius now belongs to him b/c he "layed down mad money for this table, yo". He starts screaming at everybody to move. He then tried to kick me out of "his area", threatening to get security if I didn't leave. I called his bluff, told him to go ahead, and he left me alone after that. But I was in a bad mood from that point on.
Armin's set was mediocre at best... I spent an hour or so up front from ~5:00 to 6:00. I couldn't believe how packed the club still was at that time. I actually left at 6am - the first time I haven't closed the club out at a show in a long time.
On a good note, I ran into / met several TA'ers, several of which shared similar sentiments about the evening - it was fun to have someone to bitch with. It's unfortunate that the show wasn't better - it's a long drive from Baltimore :(

Looks like this thread is becoming more about penn state than armin :happy2: but i mean 12 of us did make the trip and it seems like every1 who's on TA is talking about it. But let's get back to armin, i'll post more of the video's i got later on tonight once i get of of my ME lab. I have like 3 or 4 more but i need to sort through them and make sure they're good.
