| k my 2 cents....it's wrong to throw out terms like 'gay' or 'nig'...BUT i feel like it's so widely accepted today (at least where i live)...it's like the words have lost their original meanings and taken on completey different ones. to me, calling something 'gay' is NOT a stab at homosexuality, it's just used as an expression and not in a literal sense...for all you that think i'm homophobic because i threw the word 'gay' around when i was wasted, i am certainly not--i'm very openminded and there is NOTHING wrong with being experimental or being homosexual. it's ultimately wrong to use the word 'gay', but it's now a coined phrase. just like saying 'wow that tastes like ' doesn't mean it LITERALLY tastes like . as for 'nig', yeah it's horrible that the word is now thrown around so freely, given it's origin. but like i said before, it's taken on a new meaning, now it's like calling someone man or dude. words evolve. just as long as you're not malicious with the fact that you're throwing those words around, then you're ok. ya dig? |

i personally dont think ur friends meant any harm by saying "nigga" b/c they said "nigga" and not "******".... there's a big diff..
but saying the N word infront of certain black/african american pple.. they tend to feel it being derogatory coming from anyone else OTHER THEN someone of their own skin color
ur friends should be smart and watch what they say.. whether its about black/white/asian/fat/disabled.. ur bound to offend somebody...
they should learn to look around if they are going to say something not "PC" .... |

so what? i call my friends "nigga" all the time and i'm a 5'5 blonde white girl. it's a term used very loosely today by hip hop and MTV culture, and the term pretty much means like a "homey" these days anyway.
it's not like he looked at the black dude and said, "hey Ni*%er, grab me some napkins" obviously that would be racist.
i'm not saying that the guy shouldn't have been offended. i'm sure a lot of black people don't like it that the term is so common these days among their own race, but in the end, it was a convo that he was not a part of and by the context, he should have realized that u guys were just in around and it's not really his business. |
