| I don't get it. Why don't we let natural selection do its thing... |

because its not natural?
species are dying because of humans careless, selfish actions |
|
|
| enferno |
cause some people are dumb as .
i can see how it's kinda dumb when we kill the species off, or like cause we kill t3h forest and then the animals move somewhere else and start killing eachother cause they are overcrouded.
if it's cause we are being jackasses, then it's good to try to preserve them.
but if it's in the case of the dodo birds, em. |

Well, whales have been hunted for a very long time for their oil for fuel and stuff. Japan has been killing 100's of whales per year still for "scientific research." I think that whales fill an important niche in their ecosystems and are not dying out because of their genetic material.
Sea turtles on the other hand seem to be weak! I said sea turtles because it was the first thing that came to mind, although I'm sure there are better examples. Sea turtles' eggs are laid on a beach. When the cute little turtles hatch they must melbourne shuffle their way to the ocean. Well on the way 99% of them get eaten... Preservationists try to protection them and such, but if a species can't survive on its own then I think we should let nature take its natural course.
I agree with what enferno said actually. Unless we are doing something that hurts the species we shouldn't really be concerned with its survival. |

| Sea turtles have been around for far longer than whales, and that just says something about their capacity to survive. They hatch alot of young to compensate for the ones that don't make it to water. If they're endangered now, it's most likely due to human intervention. |

| Doesn't matter. Replace sea turtles with *weak species* |

| Can you give me an example of such a "weak species"? The only one I can think of right now is humans. Physically one of the most fragile lifeforms on earth. |
