| Wow, what an amazing night. Armin totally killed it again (he changed up his set somewhat and I think this was a little better than LA's). The energy was non stop and the vibe was one of the best I've seen at Ruby and the club was full but not super packed. I took 3 full videos of Ronski Speed and Stoneface & Terminal - Incognition, Marcel Woods - Advanced, and Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea Remix) but they are a little dark but really capture the atmosphere and they are also in really high res (the 3 vids are like over 900MB)...PM me if you want full vids otherwise lower res will be uploaded later. It was good seeing DaveT and Michelle as always and my buddy's gf got a pick with Armin (which she was dying to do)....oh and I stayed for Rank1's set this time and man did he put up one hell of a set, truly amazing trance....what a great night, anyways more review and some uploads tomorrow after I recover from back to back Armin.. |

My initial 4:20am review in a few statements.
Remy: Got there at 10:10. Absolutely zero crowd. I expected this considering it was a Sunday...plus that SF for you. He was playing decent tracks. Around 10:45-11:00 the crowd turk a drastic turn and filled up bigtime real fast. Remy fed off the crowd and well, he was f'n AMAZING. WOWZAs. I LOVED his stuff. The crowd was going absolutely NUTs to everything he was playing during his last 30 minutes.
Piet (Rank 1): OK, he didn't play right after Remy, but he showed up early...like 11-ish. The whole Armada crew was out in full force. Was cool.
Armin: Arrived at 11:20-11:25ish and hung out a bit on stage. Made sure he was comfortable with everything and made sure to say hi. (without bothering him too much since peeps bug him all night)
Armin: Gets on the decks aroun 11:45pm and KILLS it. He played VERY EDGY stuff. I mean, unexpected. I wonder if he played like this in LA. I _loved_ it, although I know a couple of peeps who didn't necessarily (they liked what he was playing, but he was playing other stuff than what they expected). From the time Armin arrived at Ruby Skye, it seemed he just wanted to have fun and play stuff he wanted to play. It seemed like he did and he was grooving to his set even more than usual (even though that sounds unlikely...he was more into than usual, yes).
M: So a bit after Armin gets on, get the word that "M" wants to say hi...go offstage, say hi...mention to someone that he was here all the way from Australia and in response was a "wow" and he was given a wristband to come upstage. Consider him lucky considering how many wristbands I always try to get, lol. Anyhow.....glad that his appreciation for the scene was rewarded in such a way.
Dave & Josh: (aka Gabriel & Dresden) Show up probably a bit after midnight. I'm not one to bug peeps, so said hi and that's pretty much it. Let them enjoy the evening.
Rank 1: Gets on at 2:30 and the second track was Rank 1 - Airwave (not full on Breathing). LOVED IT. Piet had so much energy. I thought the place would completely clear out after Armin considering it was a Sunday night, but the crowd proved me wrong. Wowzas. Armin and crew took off right after Piet took over the decks.
Armin & Remy: A bit after 3am, Armin and Remy showed back up in full force with their crew and hang out on the stage for awhile. Dunno where they even went while they were gone. Maybe just upstairs. Dunno. Anyhow, seems like they were enjoying themselves and just having good fun to Piet's stuff...you know, winding down a bit. Armin, Remy, and most of the crew take off at 3:35-ish I'd say and, being the cool guy is, Armin makes sure to say goodbye to those he knows (wheee, I feel special!!!)
Rank 1: Rank 1 keeps the place banging (hell, even upstairs is still opened up!!) and decide to take a smoke break. Go outside, start chatting stuff up and eventually decide it's time to turn in.
Final: Pretty much around 4am, no sign of Rank 1 stopping and unsure how many peeps left inside, just hear high-energy stuff from outside and leave. I have a long day tomorrow.
In the end, amazing night.
Jason, glad you got the pics you wanted. I tried to get a few more wristbands but everyone I talked to pawned off who had them on other peeps in the end. To the TAs who I talked to, thanks for coming out! Hope you had a grea time. |

nice review dave :)
... armin did play edgy in LA as he did in SF (infact that breaks/prog tune with that dirty bass on his 2nd tune was amazing and I filmed it but ended up erasing it due to lack of memory and wanting to get some favs of mine and crowd pleasers like Advanced on video) but I liked the change up from LA in that he played some of the trance usual supsects like Killa, Without You Near, Etc (its reallllly late to ID tunes for me). Incredible night...will review fully later
PS. Rank 1 dropping Mr Sam - Lyteo (Rank1 Remix) blew the roof off, just amazing....ok time for some much needed sleep |

not much more i can add, it was a hell of a night at ruby skye. probably the best sunday crowd i've seen there. met a bunch of local ta's as well as -=M=- from melbourne, had some good conversations about the music. remy had a sick housey set that really got the crowd going by 11, then he finishes a bit dirty with some breaks tracks, armin comes on with the junkie xl coldplay track and from then on it's really proggy tracks for a few hours, then the crowd pleasers toward the middle-end. always fun to see josh and dave up in the mix too. dresden and armin were joking around back and forth for a good part of armin's set. rank 1 did a fantastic job of keeping the crowd going up until i left, which was about 4. i wasn't expecting a sunday party to turn out this well, and yeah that was one of the latest i've seen ruby skye keep the balcony open for.
my pics of the night btw: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=321371 |

Remy: He played a decent set. Did a great job warming up for Armin.
Armin: Played a great set. A little more bass than I would like. I was upstairs and for some reason the bass was too loud and I just couldn't hear much during the second half of Armin's set.
Rank 1: Awesome set. I left an hour after the set started because some friends wanted to go home. |

They should've left Armin close - the club would've been full till the end, just like during his last appearence there.
Great party though ! Sunday night parties are the best ! |

Wow, dave sumed it up. I love Armin! He played nothing but loud, great trance. Trancelover24 im sorry you couldnt make it out we had a blast! DaveT, and i think it was lex400sc, and some other aussie fellow, it was nice chatting with you all outside on all those smokebreaks.
Ruby Skye wasnt packed like it normally was for Armin (can you say sunday night!) there was room to flail arms, and jump around to the music. The vibe was just what I was looking for that night to cheer up my crappy day. I left the club at about 3:30, I was done danceing, and I walked to my car with a huge satisfaction.
Altho i was too tired to stay for Rank 1's set, and I know i mised out on some really good music, but I couldnt stay any longer.
Anyway, hope to see the same crowd for CL + Dan this next weekend.
Until then everyone take care. |

| My mini-review. I thought Armin played excellently, it was great that everyone there was there for Armin. A few tracks Remy played righ before Armin hit the decks were awesome. One that had a real nice house beat too it, with some trancy overtones. Loved it! Tracklist anyone? We stayed for 15 min or so of Rank-1 but had to call it a night. For a Sunday party, it was a good crowd, but man am I hurtin' tooday. Dave, said "congrats" to you outside RS but you were on the phone so not sure if you realized it was me...cheers though. |

review:
After experiencing Armada night in LA, where Armin killed it, we drove up pacific coast highway to SF the next day for round 2.
The 'scenic' route turned out to take much longer than expected and we didn't make it to our hotel till 10pm. This only left 1 hour to eat and change.
We walked over to Ruby Skye at about 11:15pm and got in with no problem (wearing tshirts and regular shoes!). Once in we went up to the balcony to catch the end of Remy's set which was good. Then Armin got on and threw down one bangin track after another. Edgy and hard like his LA set but a little more trancey!
I got a few videos and unfortunately my camera is set so high res that the vids take up a lot of space and my 1GB card ran out quick (I need another card and more importantly to lower the res). I filmed Armin feat. Nadia Ali - Who Is Watching (Remy Remix) and another breaks tune but ended up deleting them to free space. The tracks I ended up keeping were Ronski Speed and Terminal & Stoneface - Incognition, Marcel Woods - Advanced, and Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea Remix). Killa turned out the best because during the break Ruby's light racks came on and lit up the whole club as we all went nuts, so that was great to catch.
Anyways after that we went down for the final half hour of Armin's set to get upfront and dance. It was great hearing Markus with G&D feat Departure - Without You Near again as well as his final tune Deep Dish feat. Stevie Nicks - Dreams (which he closed his LA set with). Just as in LA Armin really worked the crowd and had a great time as we all did. As mentioned he played Marco V - False Light, G&D - Tracking Treasure Down, Mark Otten - So Serene, and many others but I was too into the music to be ID'ing. But back 2 back phenomenal sets, couldn't ask for a better weekend.
Rank 1 got on and this time I wanted to hear his set since everyone loved his LA one and man did he rock. Opened with a massive tune and then went straight to Airwave which drove the crowd nuts! Fav tune from his was Lyteo and man was it great to hear in Ruby's sound system. Top Gear was another great tune he played. There were so many others but I can't remember but I was really impressed by Piet.
Finally before we left, my friends gf got a pick with Armin as he was ushered thru the crowd to the door so we left shortly after that. Which was about 30 mins befor Rank 1 finished, because with doing LA the night before I was exhausted.
Great shows and both clubs had great crowds with great vibes. WMC is looking a lot more attractive after experiencing a weekend like this. Otherwise it would be Memorial weekend at the end of May before I see Armin spin again.
Here are the videos and sorry but I am still recovering from the weekend and too tired to shrink them down. So if you really want them know that they are in a higher res than necessary and dark due do the fact that they were taken from the balcony and there just wasn't a lot of lighting going on to see everything. But having said that they turned out pretty good and more importantly the audio with crowd reaction turned out great!
So here they are for the next couple days:
Marcel Woods - Advanced (390MB - one killer tune in the club)
Ronski Speed and Terminal & Stoneface - Incognition (300MB - another killer tune, wish I would've filmed the LA one too)
Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea Remix) (250MB - still a fav and towards the middle the club gets lit during the build up!)
PS. Armin van Buuren - Control Feak (Sander Van Doorn Remix) PWND THE CLUB. That's all I'm going to say.
