this isn't exactly the right forum, as even though i'd love to study in Germany, my main choice at the moment is Austria. i hope this isn't too much of a bother.

if any of you guys could help, or tell me someone who can, it would be excellent.

i was born here in Dominican Republic, but since my grandparents came from Austria, and my father then lived there for a while, i was granted my austrian passport, and citizenship.

my german sucks, i can barely understand a few words, as my parents never got me lessons when i was young, even though i always wanted.

anyways, i was looking at maybe the possibility of going there to study?

perhaps you guys can clear some things up for me:

- education is free, but there is a tuition fee? i don't understand, why is there a fee if it is supposed to be free? although, according to the University of Vienna site, my country is in a list that allows me not pay that, only pay a small student union fee, which sounds a lot better. i still don't understand how it's free, but you pay a 400euro fee?! ah well.
- appartment/living costs. i've never lived alone, nor had to pay rent. how much would i expect to spend on a decent appartment? how about food and stuff like that?
- jobs/part time. i've worked here as a writer for music websites, worked on radioshows, i am a DJ, and was a mechanic for a while at my father's autoshop (Bosch GmbH reperesentation here). i am also OK with computers, used to be a linux geek a couple eyars back :p what kind of jobs can students get/what kind of pay can i expect?
- financial aid. does the government or anyone give me anything at all? i always hear about these great things for studying in europe, is any of it true? :p

i just really want to leave this country lately. boring as , no power, no laws, no police, and bla bla bla.

which brings me to another point... what's the nightlife in Austria like? :p

thanks guys, hope you can help.
