Anyone care to tell me about USB thumb drives?

You know, the tiny USB drives that plug into USB and carry 1-2GB or whatever? I was wondering, is it a good idea to spend extra on one that uses fingerprint id to secure the data, or can they be easily hacked? There are also some without fingerprint id that come with encryption software. What should i do? Get a regular one and download encryption soft off the net? Get a regular / secure one? Get a biodrive? It'll be used for VERY sensitive data.

You shouldn't even question what to buy if it is for VERY SENSITIVE data, get the most secure option you an afford.

well his purpose in life is to question the obvious...give him a break already

even if I don't like you, my suggestion is to steer away from finger print id... encryption is better.

(Don't start a thread in two weeks asking us how to get your data back cause there's no way).

How about this: Don't lose your USB drive, and you wont have to worry.

+1

I'd stay about from the biometrics stuff for now.
Sure it's cool and an ego boost to impress your friends but unless you live in some delusional cloak and dagger world there's no need for it.

The encrypted way would be the best route.

Actually the best route would be not to put any sensitive data on something that could potential be 'lost'... ;)
