o young squire, thou hast abundance to learneth. |
aside from the Sasha vs Armin battle and you saying us young ones like Armin, whatever, thats a whole different argument, i can appreciate the sounds of Sasha, and as a matter of fact, a lot of progressive out there, from prog. trance to house to breaks.... minimal tech is just garbage and not music, i dont care what ne1 says... havent heard Wink live but isnt he acid house? this is 2006, not 1988, lets embrace new sounds (beeps and boops and little squelch kicks arent new sounds), acid house is dead and minimal should be dead.... my ears were begging me to leave when i heard Loco Dice spin... |

Alot of the fluff that Armin plays on his show (usually in the middle)all sounds alike to me... but thats just my opinion, and why I dont listen to him nearly as much.

I'll agree with you on that one. But watch out people are going to start crying on this board if that gets repeated too much. |

nah i didnt mean to say Armin's the best, i meant to reference an argument some TAs had about Armin vs Sasha saying that were "too young to understand 'real' music" like Sasha's... im saying, its not a young or old issue, its just a matter of the art of the music, theres no art in minimal tech or house at all, thats all... there are some alright acid tunes here and there, "control freak" by LFO and some FC KAHUNA stuff, but thats bordering below decent.... minimal, i just dont consider newhere near decent, unless ur blitzed on G and see meaning in the bleeps and bloops haha i know im starting trouble with my opinion arent i :P whoops |

dj eco: you need to respect the music and the people who like the type of music. what you said shows a lot about your maturity (or lack thereof).
i may make fun of armin or sasha or pvd or whoever but i still respect them either as people or for their contributions to the scene or to music in general. |

I dont do G, also if we are talking about the art of music and like that, its all opinion based. I do think there is an art to making music for ed up people, or else ed up people wouldnt like it.

OK, I've seen Josh Wink a few times. He has yet to impress me. When he played with Sasha back in May 2005, he completely killed the flow of Sasha's set. I think things got better when they were tag-teaming, but the damage had been done.
Loco Dice, on the other hand, I liked when he opened for Carl Cox in October. Also, I picked up the Mixmag edition that was out right after that gig for Loco Dice's CD. It's definitely a good mix (I actually listened to it at work yesterday afternoon) and I'm not into a lot of the minimal stuff. I like some of it, but lots of times it takes too long to get going, like Hawtin's DE:9 Transistions CD. That bored me most of the way through when I listened to it. I think there was one track about 45-50 minutes in that I liked.
His website is also cool with the dice on a string that move when you move the mouse. |
