Looks like Gov. Kaine got the duty of saying, 'We agree with alot of what Bush said, but his methods are all wrong....". For mebot and FlavDave, What kind of Governor is Kaine?

I voted for Kaine because I liked his proposal for helping clear up the congestion that is Northern Virginia. The Washington D.C. Metropolitan area is one of the most congested places in the nation and I think it's traffic woes ranks # 3 behind LA and New York. We don't have an adequate public transportation system except for the Metro and that only goes out so far. Many people commute in from far out in the suburbs, including Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and even the Shenandoah/Blue Ridge Skyline areas.

Anyways, his plan for widening lanes and extending the Metro further out makes sense to me. That was the only thing I really cared about in his platform.

Kaine was just sworn in like 2 or 3 weeks ago. He was the mayor of Richmond a couple of years ago and he did a pretty good job, but he didn't do all that much to clean up the cities image. Our former governor, Mark Warner, is being mentioned as a possible Democratic candidate for president in 2008. I think he would be a great choice.

Sen. George Allen is also a likely candidate for the 2008 presidential election.

You still have to pay an outrageous tax on cars, boats, and other "luxury" items every year though, no? Back in '99 I was thinking of transferring my PA car registration to VA to save on insurance - until I found out I'd be paying $1200 in taxes every year for the next 3 years. :nervous: Thanks... but no thanks...

Personally, no. I only pay about $120 every 3 months. I think that's rediculously cheap. Of course, I have a spotless driving record and so do my parents, plus I have good grades in school. Insurance takes that all into consideration.

Also I don't have a luxury vehicle. I don't know if there is a luxury tax for the top 2% of people who earn the most income. That's probably where you're getting your exorbinant amount of outrageous taxes.

Wow, "commies". The cold war really left its marks when you realise that is still being used as an insult over there.

And for the record, i'm center/right wing.
