Weeks ago I stumbled upon a rather dubious question: What is Monchhichi? After rigorous investigation, I discovered the many faces behind the furry primatial anomaly otherwise known as Monkchichi, aka Fong.
My first revelation was the familiarity of this character. Developed in the 1970’s by a large Japanese toy company, Monkchichi quickly grew in popularity because of his endearing features. I vividly recall the distinct plastic hands, feet, and face that made up his stubby physique. However, the most familiar characteristic was his perfectly sized thumb that inserted into his circular orifice. LOL.
For those that need a reminder. Here is Monkchichi in his (sometimes her) original form:
After years as a hit toy for kids all over the world, Monkchichi even became a short-lived Hanna Barbera cartoon in 1983, in which tribes of Monchichis worked to defeat the evil “Grumplins.” Unfortunately, Monkchichi’s popularity began to slip. It wasn’t until the past few years that the monkey creature began his dramatic resurgence out of knickknack history.
He has recently been spotted under various guises. Among them…
"Chinese New Year Monkchichi"
"Buddha Monkchichi" (om!)
"Dim Sum Monkchichi " (yum yum!)
"Raver Monkchichi”
“Cockadoodlechichi”
"Santa Monkchichiclaus"
"Rugby Monkchichi"
And last but not least, my personal favorite:
"Peach Monkchichi"

| OMG. hahaha oh no you just didn't!!! that's too funny. my face looks like a jacked little demon monkey face. I like raver Monkchichi and Dim Sum Monkchichi. I look fat in rugby monkchichi though. |

but 'cute' in the sense that he's an endangered specie.....dont kill his kind.

| peach, your photoshops skillz are off da heezy gurl. that's why I am employing your help once my hair grows long. I been talking with one of my friends who is a photographer and I want to recreate that default photo on my myspace account. I just need you to remix that . maybe have me in a bamboo forest right in the middle of shanghai. or looking at a frozen waterfall right in the middle of the winter. |

Absolutely hilarious. The many expressions of Fong really fit well with Monchichi. Dim sum and Peach Monkchichi cracks me up everytime I look at it.
