Let see Tag and I got in an arguement over stupid findings from "EIU" or wtv its called in the U.K over their 2006 list of most expensive cities.
Montreal and Vancouver tied @ 43
Toronto @ 47
His giving me because I'm telling him I think thats the trueth and crap.
Dude only posting this to piss you off :p
His like Ottawa more expensive then Montreal, probably is I havent been to Ottawa in like atleast a good 6 years... plus never been to Vancouver. I know Vancouver expensive and . I even know Toronto is even expensive.
Still no clue how Montreal and Vancouver can tie, yet Montreal more expensive then Toronto.
List:
1st - Oslo, Norway
2nd - Tokyo, Japan
3rd - Reykjavik, Iceland
= 4th - Osaka, Japan
= 4th Paris, France
6th - Copenhagen, Denmark
7th - London, UK
8th - Zurich, Switzerland
9th - Geneva, Switzerland
10th - Helsinki, Finland
27th - New York, USA
Plus "EIU" claims 14 years ago Tehran was the most expensive city.
Some of you did business and stuff in school... how do firms such as the "EIU" come up with this info?
Im only posting this, for people who think some parts of the list is false or which areas it could be the truth.
For me I still find their findings with Montreal being tied with Vancouver very weird. |

Hmmm, even if Ottawa is more expensive than Montreal, we Ottawans always have money in our bank accounts here.. there's nothing to spend it on in the Big Snore.
But in my 'purely unscientific' opinion, I'm assuming Vancouver is tied with Montreal because Montreal costs more to stay warm in winter and to stay cool in summer (no air conditioners in Van) and there's more driving to do in Montreal, bigger city.
Universities back west had a tuition cap for awhile.. so it wasn't as expensive to go to school there as it was in other provinces; however, I hear QC is 'relatively' inexpensive too. Not sure about the health care system and other stuff in Quebec though, vis-à-vis BC.
How Toronto is cheaper than those two cities is beyond me. Ontario universities cost a fortune to attend, for example. Maybe it all has to do with taxation levels (property, consumer goods, etc). This so called study could be flawed, with maybe other interests in mind.. so question everything you read/hear.. including this post!!!
Perhaps the biggest reason is that Montreal strippers will set you back real quick ;) |
