Anyone hitting up this festival? My friends went last year and she said it was one of the best weekends of her life. Sasha is going to be there this year which will be pretty cool....

I went to the first 3 years, this past year was the first I missed, and I must say that even though I don't really have an interest in doing the whole festival again this year, I'm already trying to figure out how I'm going to make it down just for one night, because Sasha's set will certainly be late night, and anyone who knows/has been to Bonnaroo and knows what late night is like there will believe me when I say that a late night Bonnaroo Sasha set will most likely be legendary...
If you've never been and are even half way interested, I'd recommend going... Bonnaroo is an awesome, but taxing aexperience... I'll warn people ahead of time though, that it's a very different vibe from festivals like Ultra, GG, Glastonbury, or any other major EDM event... Get ready for hippies (I promise they're fun!)!

I don't really see anyone except Sasha that close to electronic music there. |

| as a big fan of "jam-bands", the most common genre at bonnaroo, i can say that not a whole lot of the other acts are very good. 'roo has a reputation as a dirty, sketchy, drug-infested (much of it fake), and overall ty festival. having talked to probably 100 people with 'roo experience, i've found out that pretty much the only good 'roo has been the first one, and since then each one has gotten progressively worst. don't waste your time or money dealing with the throngs of filthy wooks. (wook = dirty, long-haired, stupid-ass hippies). |

although the first bonnaroo prolly is second to only woodstock for american festivals IMO. |

I wasn't trying to say there were a bunch of EDM acts, just trying to compare the festival to EDM festivals in general so people might have a better idea of the contrast between the two... :)

A. It's not any sketchier than any other Jamband event I've been to with a happenin' lot scene.
B. I never once was sold fake drugs at Bonnaroo... Much to the contrary.
C. I don't think it's at all a "ty" festival, but it certainly might not be up some people's alley due to the somewhat "rugged" nature of it.
D. Yes, Wookies suck... Except for the ones from Kyshyyk, i.e. Chewbacca is OK in my book... :)
I went to the first three with the same group of 10 kids each year, and every time it was a blast, but I was also brought up doing Phish tours (98 and 00) as well as other, similar festivals (End of tour Phish festivals, Winter Carnival, High Sierra, Telluride, etc.) so I guess my frame of reference for those kinds of events would be different.
There's a lot of pro's and cons, and I'll agree that this year the music outside of the mainstage and Sasha appears slightly lackluster, but more will be added. IMO it'd be worth it to see Sasha there alone, but Bela Fleck, Beck, Radiohead, Moe, and Soulive are all definitely phenomenal bands. I guess too each their own, but if you haven't been, I wouldn't try to pass judgment, as the festival itself is quite unique. |

That would be my recommendation... ;)
I think I may head back for this, and if I do, Sasha sold the ticket... Though there's always soooo many of these left the week before the event there's no way I'm paying full price, I think the most I've paid to date (Besides the first year when I payed full price) was $60... :happy2: |

keep it mind that they lowered the amount of tickets they are selling by 10,000 |
