| Varies. Some of my best stuff I've done in minutes through sudden bursts of inspiration. Others have taken weeks. Same goes for the crap ones. |

| as much time as for the bad ones. |

| From a few hours to weeks for me. It all varies. I'm never consistent. :D |

When I made my best track (on the run) I was supposed to sleep and be working the day after, but I turned out to making it between 24:00 and 06:00 in the middle of the night. I knew that if I did'nt finnished it that night it might never be finnished... Got alot of inspiration :D
My latest took me about two weeks or so to complete so it variates... |

I'm finding that I'm becoming more consistent with the amount of time I spend...
(we'll say that each day consists of an average of 4 hours)
-3 days - The main concepts and foundation of the track
-3 days - adding transitional effects and developing progression
-2 days - polishing up levels and transitions.
-2 days - finishing touches... no major changes will occur in this period.
Of course some days I spend less time and others I spend more... some days I can't find any time at all to work on a track... so this is just a general idea. The process above can sometimes last a month depending on how much time I can find to work on the track.

I began logging my time because I noticed I spent WAAAAAY longer than most.
My last tune (below) took me 77 hours in total. (That's usually in 3 hour blocks per producing session).
I doubt that's typical, but that's my pace and I know my application (project5 v2) inside & out. I won't be getting faster. That's alright though...I know I'm a knit-picker and probably spend too much time fixing stuff that doesn't really amount to much.
 |

| My best tracks are the ones that get done the quickest. A week at most. If it takes more than that it will probably never get done and/or turn out to be crap. |

I generally write my best tracks in one or two days, sometimes a single evening. Sometimes, I can get the levels and mastering to an acceptable level, but quite often that can take anywhere from one more day to one more week.
Even then, I never feel like the song is truly finished, because often the best tracks are the ones that I have the best vision for, and I can never seem to live up to my own expectations in that regard. |

usually id get the base of the track done, then spend weeks changing things and adding and removing stuff.
The Enya remix in my sig was about 2 months, changing basslines, trying to get the vocals right, changing the structure etc.
And yet a song I am doing now was basically finished in 4 days :S. I think it boils down to inspiration with me. |

| I spent less time on my best works than on the lesser ones... don't really have a timeframe.. About 40hours for an average track I think |
