THX Synth Design Idea Super Challenge!

Reading FHM the other day, I came across an article titled "Name that sound..."

Basically it was about famous sounds heard thousands of times a day the world over, such as the crap Intel jingle, windows start up theme, etc. And how much people such as Brian Eno gets paid to write them. ($35'000 for the windows 95 tune!)

Anyways the star of the article was the BIG THX sound for the theaters played befor each movie. Apparently this was made by a chap for Lucas Arts to be shown befor the first Star Wars movie.

Cut a long story short, Lucas Arts lost it, and for months this guy tried to recreate it but couldn't. Eventually he found the original by chance and that is the thing we now hear on DVD's in the cinema, etc.

NOW!!!

Anyone reckon they could re-create this sound? Since the creator himself couldn't!

Purely for fun & learning of course!

Hi,

If you own a Modulat V soft from Arturia then you should go over to Peff, http://www.peff.com and download a bank with 80 patches or so ...

There are some THXish sounds that came really close to the famous THX intro ... ;)

All the best!

Here's how it was done from the horses mouth.. Short version is it ain't easy, and I'm not even sure that even a dual opteron has enough grunt to do it right.
