Reason help! PLEASE!!

Hi --

I'm doing a Reason assignment for my Digital & Electronic Music Class and my teacher is an idiot. I need serious help!

My problem is that I don't know how to make [automation] filter sweeps, etc., effects using the SubTractor to make my track interesting. These are the parametres:

- two SubTractors
- two Matrices [Matrix]
- Redrum
- Reverb and envelopes are allowed
- MUST be 3 min in TOTAL, nothing less or more
- must "use(s) automated, sound-parameter changes to sustain interest in a repetitive, pattern-based sequences"

Please! It's a strict assignemtn and is due Monday. Although I have two patterns and a beat, I'm at a complete loss at how to do the arrangement and filter sweeps, etc. I understand the basics of the what's and some how-to, but everything else was left for us to eff around with, and not everyone has these programs at home -- I just got Reason now!

If anyone could possible send me a piece that they've done in Reason so I could see how it's possible done -- or anything!! -- I'd greatly appreciate it.

Send me to awesome tutorial sites, explain a step-by-step tutorial, anything.

But I'm in desperate need of help!

Thank you!

If you want to automate each parameter manually, try this:

1) Make sure the device you want to record is selected in the sequencer and that the Record icon (to the left of the device name) is red.

2) Go to the device in the rack, and hit the record button. It should be lit.

3) Press play, and everything you tweak on that device will be recorded.

-------------
If you want to draw your automation in the sequencer:

1) Make sure the device you want to edit is selected in the sequencer.

2) Go to the device in the rack. Right-click on a knob/slider that you want to edit and select "Edit Automation". A blue bar should appear in your sequencer with the name of the knob/slider.

3) Here, you can use the pencil/line tool to draw in the parameters you want.

--------------
If the device you want to edit is not in the sequencer list:

1) Select the device in the rack.

2) Right click somewhere on the device that has no function (ie a blank panel) and select: Create>> Sequencer Track For xx
(xx being the device name).

I hope those instructions help. They're pretty basic but if you need any more help feel free to pm me.

Pardon me for bumping. But I'm curious to see if that info helped or not, and how your project is going?

Thanks!

It's actually going well. Another TA -- dj_palm -- helped me step-by-step over MSN, and your suggestions/directions are also helping.

I actually have a 3-minute track and can find my way around Reason now! :)

It's not TA-(or professional)quality, so I don't think I'd post it up, but... :eyes:

Wow. Just wow. The help was amazing.

Thank you!
