What a great night! Three in hours of Ferry Corsten - what a treat.
Got in around 11, and the club was already movin to the Breakbeat sounds of the opening DJ. He was clever enough to move back & forth between Progressive Breaks and the more Progressive side of Trance to warm things up. Ideally a good warm up set doesn't go above 133 BPMs or so, so as not to steal the thunder from the headlining DJ, but I gotta admit this DJ read the crowd right by playing some full-on Trance. I was (delightfully) surprised when he went on a bit of a timewarp playing a couple of late 90s classics - Three Drives on Vinyl "Greece 2000", and a bit later (after Depeche Mode) he played Ruff Drivers "Dreaming". Now While "Dreaming" is a bit on the cheesy side where I'm from, it has an insane build-up, and he really won the crowd over whilst playing this tune. The folks were so ready for Ferry, which happened just a couple of tracks afterwards.
This would be a good time to mention what a fun crowd it was, kinda reminded me of the type of mixed crowd that showed at the Club@Firestone in Orlando in the mid 90s. Very positive, open vibe, and very appreciative of the DJs.
So onto Ferry, and really not much can be said other then it was a total "OMFG I Die" experience :) Great to hear him drop "Ligaya", one of his own tracks under the Gouryella guise. In general, Ferry dropped a LOT of his own productions and remixes, and even closed out his set with his remix of "Barber's Adagio For Strings" by William Orbit, which came out in 99 wayyy before Tiesto ever recorded it as well.

Once again, it was a good night and hopefully more great events are in the woodwork.
