Jp 8080 Help

| im new to hardware and thought some one here could help me. i just bought a jp 8080 and was wondering if it is possible to trigger via a midi file in cubase or Fruity. cause i have songs id like to redo with the jp. thanks in advance |

Of course it's possible.
I'm not really an expert in MIDI, but in a nutshell you'll need a MIDI interface and a MIDI cable to connect it up to your computer. Then configure a MIDI channel in FL/Cubase to operate your 8080.
I'm sure more experienced techies can give you a more in-depth instruction how to do it shortly. |

As Aquila said you need an interface. (Google "Motu" and check out their products).
Connect the MIDI OUT of the interface to the MIDI IN on the 8080 and the sequncer will be able to trigger the 8080.
You'll need to set up the channels to.
You may also need an audio interface to connect to sound source from the 8080 back to the computer.
Do yourself a favour and google MIDI and look into how it works.

Go buy an M-Audio USB 1x1 Midi device...
Stick it into your pc's USB port, and connect to the back of your 8080.
Open FL, go to options > midi.. select the M-Audio USB 1x1 as your device. Make sure your pulldown under settings has "Enable Midi Output" checked. Set your port number.
Go to Channels > Add One > Midi Out
Add your notes. Press play. Viola! (change the channel and port around if you don't hear sound, since I have no idea what your settings here are.. it's going to be 0 or 1 though, most likely). |

i already have a sound card with midi ins and outs i just wasnt sure
how to hook it up or if it was even possible Thanks alot |

yea i know. i was so gung hu about computer based stuff b4 but ever since getting this its compleatly changed my mind. Ive played lines from
some of my tunes with and it sounds a million time fatter, and the hands on is nice also. something of topic, is there any thing hardware that i can use for drums and percusion but also be able to sequence every thing in , or is it just best to use a computer? |

Supernova can do more (basses, pads etc.), but the JP 8080 has the supersaw. I have a JP and I'm saving up for a Nova/Supernova ... with those two combined, there's not much stopping you from having a pro sound. |

This may sound a little dumb but is a fl studio score the same as a midi file? eg I can use the access virus to play it?

I am making the assumption here that FL score is the same as Logic score (never seen FL).
Score is like writing sheet music, i.e. traditional way of writing music. It tells the sequencer what notes to play and when. This only makes up part of the infomation that MIDI sends.
While you can prob write tempo changes etc in score (I don't use it) You certainly wouldn't be able to write MIDI patch changes (where the instrument being played is altered to play a different sound in its Bank) |
